Tutu and Ballet News

Oh darling, have you heard? Tutus are officially having a moment. You just canā€™t step out of the house without seeing a frock-tastic frolic in tulle, and the world is finally realizing what we ballerinas have known all along ā€“ **tutus are fabulous!**

Sure, it all started in the dusty confines of a ballet studio, with us girls twirling and leaping in our tutus. We even wore those poofy creations while trying to do cartwheels, which let me tell you, was a struggle ā€“ but all for the love of the dance, darling. We never thought tutus would see the light of day, or rather, the bright lights of fashion week!

But the world is a fickle thing, love. This week alone, a whole collection of new ā€œTutu-Chicā€ creations were spotted on the runway. Think tutus, but made for the modern woman. They're not those big, old-fashioned, ā€œlook-at-my-legsā€ numbers. They are sassy, sparkly, and yes, some are even embellished with a whole lot of glitter (which I think we can all agree is **never** a bad thing). And let's face it, whatā€™s not to love about an excuse to wear pink and look divine?

Letā€™s face it: for a good old fashioned twirl, there is nothing quite like a fluffy tutu. The new, edgy style of ā€œstreet chic tutusā€ are not the long, full, poofy ā€œen pointeā€ tutus, darling. Itā€™s like they were inspired by the way ballerinas train, but just toned down a touch for a modern, fashionable, wearable look. And, while I may not be able to get my grand jetĆ© on in a tight street chic tutu, there's something really nice about the versatility of them! I hear some are even doing a little pirouette out at nightclubs in those tutus. Fancy, right?

Weā€™re still clinging on to our traditional long, full tutu styles as our favorite dance piece. It has been part of our lives, our souls, since childhood, making each little ballerina feel magical and royal. This tutu will always be a classic - itā€™s the timeless beauty of it all that is so captivating, love. But, you must admit, these ā€œstreet chicā€ tutus do make it fun to be in step with the times and show that the ballerina in us can wear her tutu anywhere, anytime!

Speaking of fun, how about a tutu competition? I have some fantastic ideas, so put on your favourite tulle skirt or tutu - just make sure itā€™s chic enough for the spotlight! The top five will have a chance to be featured on the front page of ā€œBallet Beautifulā€, and my pick will be on the cover of ā€œDances with Styleā€ in next month's edition!

I love that tutu trend! Now we just need to persuade those fashionistas to incorporate ballet shoes in the designs as well. That is one thing I've never understood! All I can say is, darling, the future of dance wear has never looked so good, so get ready to twirl your way into fashion!

Your friendly neighborhood ballet blogger,

Miss. Sparkle toes.

Psst. You can call me ā€œSparkleā€ ā€“ everyone does, itā€™s just so much more chic!
