Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, I must tell you all about the most hilarious, outrageous, and utterly fabulous spectacle I witnessed yesterday! It was all a-flutter and a-tutu on the streets of London as the most magnificent event, or should I say *ballet*, happened! The day, 21st November, 1997, will forever be etched in my fashionista heart!

It was all thanks to "The Tutus of Tartan," a charity campaign that popped up like a perfectly executed pirouette. They weren't asking for donations; they were requesting…wait for it… TUTUs! And not just any tutus, darling, these tutus needed to be *plaid*. You heard that right! Our beloved tartan, that iconic fabric usually found in the highlands of Scotland, was being paired with the most elegant, the most beautiful, the most whimsical piece of garment known to mankind…the tutu. Imagine it, the clashing of styles, the utter ridiculousness of it all, oh darling, it was truly divine!

Apparently, it was to raise awareness about "The National Society for Tartan Appreciation" which is what I have decided to dedicate the rest of my life to! They were collecting these glorious tartan tutus and they were offering *free ballet lessons* to anyone who donated, and darling, you know I wasn’t about to miss it.

The whole street looked like a *Ballet Royale*, and the *ballet* *en pointe* was just sublime! Imagine seeing a granny rocking a tartan tutu, a young boy twirling a cerulean-coloured, check-patterned confectionery, and even a bulldog dressed in a tiny tutu with little highland kilt (oh darling, the darling kilt!). I'm pretty sure that little bulldog had more grace than my current boyfriend.

Let’s break it down, darling, for you
  • They even had an old-fashioned carousel with horses in tutus – talk about *fashion goals*!
  • There was a charming chap wearing a tartan kilt with his white tights – oh darling, so *sexy*, no?
  • They had all sorts of tartan variations; yellow, blue, green, the options were infinite! Even, dare I say it…brown. Oh darling, how could we let the lovely brown tartan be forgotten?
  • My favourite part, darling? A local pub, 'The Tartan Pig,' had their entire staff dressed in tartan, complete with a lovely gentleman wearing a pink tutu. He reminded me of a glorious, majestic pink flamingo!

You can only imagine the delightful commotion it caused. It was the most delightful display of absurdity and style that I have ever experienced, darling. And darling, it was not all fun and games. A lovely lady from The National Society for Tartan Appreciation (which I still feel like naming my poodle after…darling, don’t judge!), was making a strong argument that "Tartan is an iconic and timeless fabric and should be worn proudly, not just by those brave souls at the Highlands, but everyone".

Well darling, after a day of laughter and tutu-wearing shenanigans, I have become a strong advocate for 'Tartan'! I mean, why not pair the perfect tutu with some of this timeless wonder? A tutu isn’t only for dancers; it's a statement piece that speaks of elegance and whimsical joy. And darling, we know that tartan has an amazing power too. It’s the perfect pairing! We can't be afraid to embrace the delightful clashing, the wild exuberance, and the joyful chaos of it all, darling! Who’s ready to rock some tartan?
