Tutu and Ballet News

Darlings, gather round! Your favourite fashionista with a penchant for pirouettes is back, and today's news is positively… *tut-tut-tutu-ing!* I mean, seriously, how could we go an entire week without some tutu-tastic news?

Today's headline, ladies, is “Tutus in Turmoil: The Great Tutu Upheaval of '97!” Well, perhaps not quite an *upheaval,* but definitely a *flutter*.

It seems the hallowed halls of the Royal Ballet, the hallowed halls of our esteemed dancing-shoe-clad comrades, have been rocked by a debate about, you guessed it, tutus.

Now, darling, I’ve seen some interesting trends come and go. Let’s be honest, we’ve had everything from tutus crafted from discarded potato sacks to, shudder, **fluffy bunny-ears inspired by Grease*!* **(Oh, the humanity!). But what has set this feline froth flying in a royal flap, is the proposal of **a *new* style of tutu*. The horror! **

*“What in the name of *Swan Lake*?!”* you’re thinking. **“How can they possibly touch perfection?”** I know, darling, it seems almost unthinkable, like someone wanting to redesign a pair of perfect stilettos.

This new-fangled tutu is said to be **“streamlined and sleek,” *shudders*! * I’ve heard talk of “**aerodynamic fabrics"** and **“minimalist shapes”** which frankly, darling, is simply **“tutuless"** in my books.

A revolutionary tutu design, *that's* what they're calling it. *A “revolution!”* Really? Oh darling, a tutu shouldn’t *revolutionise* anything. It should simply *be*. The epitome of *delicate feminine grace,* like a cloud, or the frosting on a cake!

I daresay these dancers think they’re going to save all of these *minutes* on stage by not twirling and swooshing about in the voluminous fabric! I hear whispers of the *New Ballet School* championing these… shall we call them *Tutu Wannabes* – but no darling, there’s **no replacing the original!** The classic *Tutu Grande* - a breathtaking swirl of tulle and poetry, embodying our eternal struggle with our *inner ballerina* and the very essence of dance! *Sigh*

This is about *more* than simply fashion, my love, it's about **tradition!** About the heritage of the stage, about the beauty of our craft, our very identity as ballerinas. What we wear *is* who we are, right?!

The original tutu is like a classic red dress or a pair of Louboutins. It's an emblem, a statement, an entire history rolled into one magnificent, swishy, elegant ball of tulle. So while I have no plans to join any protesting line (my dancing shoes are simply too high for such activities!) I urge my dearest readers, stay true to the dream, to the tulle, to the *divine essence* of a **Tutu Grande! **

That being said, darling, I do have one slight exception to all of this! If these new-fangled "streamlined" tutus help our talented dancers execute a grand jete like *this*... then perhaps *just perhaps*, they might have a place in our lives after all.

Now go on then, ladies, give your favourite tulle creation a twirl! You’re looking stunning! **

P.S. My personal preference, however, remains a ** classic ** Tutu Grande** made of a cloud of soft, iridescent tulle with a dusting of sequins and feathers… *oh,* what is this vision conjuring in your mind, darling? *

Until next week, keep twirling and *keep dancing to the rhythm of your heart!*
