Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, prepare to be utterly enchanted as I, your trusty fashionista and ballet devotee, reveal the latest sartorial sensation that's sweeping the world of dance ā€“ tutus, the ultimate in ballerina chic! Today, 25th August, 1996, the hallowed halls of the Royal Opera House in London reverberated with the flutters of tulle and the rustle of silk, as a flurry of frocks took centre stage.

You see, darlings, the powers that be in the ballet world are in a tizzy about, shall we say, a ā€œtutu shortageā€. It appears there's been a shortage of ballerinas. Yes, I know, quite the shock, isn't it? Who could have guessed that after a good dance season, all those prima donnas have moved on to new roles or started their own lines of luxury slippers? Oh dear, isnā€™t life a whimsical affair, but luckily our trusty little dance schools across the country have a plan up their dainty little sleeves!

In a masterstroke of genius, and, frankly, adorable marketing, the heads of some of these dance schools have made the grand, flamboyant declaration that they need help finding new dancers - fast!

Here's where our adorable tutu craze begins - in an ingenious display of panache, these clever folk decided to call out to all those youngsters with a twinkle in their eyes and a spring in their step: they launched a campaign urging the nation's youth to embrace their inner swan - all while donning a tulle dream. The dance schools have provided every girl - and of course, weā€™re not saying that the boys shouldnā€™t be involved too ā€“ with a complimentary tutu, a rather sweet gesture in my opinion, even for this queen of fashion.

This delightful campaign encourages every little cherub to shimmy their way to a dance studio, dressed in their sparkly little tutu and to be photographed wearing their tiny, oh so lovely, dresses. These snaps are to be posted online on every social media site imaginable and with hashtags such as: ā€œI Am A Ballerinaā€, ā€œLove Tutuā€, and ā€œTiny Dancers of the Futureā€, for a chance to be a dance superstar!

But darling, here's where things get even more delightful:
  • There have been a number of funny pictures. It seems one young gentleman had taken to dancing with his toy bulldozer, a lovely mix of masculine energy and tutu chic, and for some inexplicable reason his photo received more likes than any other. Apparently a bulldozer is what's most on everyone's minds at the moment.
  • A picture of an elderly gentleman ā€“ I think heā€™s a solicitor of sorts- with his legs held at a jaunty, almost unnatural, angle to the air has sparked debates of its artistic merits amongst online commenters
  • My personal favourite: a young girl who was captured leaping gracefully onto a coffee table to perfect her grand jetĆ© was an internet sensation for the whole week! Such whimsy, darling! The photos and videos have brought joy to my heart, as a fellow fashion aficionado and of course, to my love for dance.

To celebrate all of this tutu-ful fashion, my beloved, a well-known British high street retailer has joined forces with the dance schools to bring some absolutely dazzling tutu fashion to the masses. This darling brand, you see, has even designed a special line of clothing and accessories inspired by all things ballet ā€“ from cute ballerina buns for little darlings, to elegant tulle scarves for chic dandies like myself! What fun, wouldn't you agree?

Now, I simply must tell you about this absolute, sheer beauty, the ultimate tutu in my opinion: the ā€˜Princess Ballerina' tutu, designed for every little darling who dreams of twirling with the grace of a prima ballerina. It's a cascading swirl of white tulle, adorned with delicate sequined embellishments and it's even made with organic cotton ā€“ oh, how chic! This tutu will make your little ballerina sparkle with utter femininity - every single, little fashion princess of a ballerina.

But hold your horses, darling ā€“ because we can't have this tutu-rific joy be reserved solely for the tiny tots. A limited-edition line of glamorous tutu skirts, all adorned with feathers, and sequins, will soon be gracing the shelves of this popular retailer! And I, dear readers, will be the first one to rush to purchase every last piece. The collection, darling, will be absolutely spectacular.

And who knows, perhaps you might even catch a glimpse of myself wearing this tutu-fully divine frock. Perhaps at my beloved Royal Opera Houseā€¦ with some dancing ā€“ in my chicest, new, feathered ballerina shoesā€¦
