Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, it’s 22nd April 1998, and, as ever, I’m here with the *latest* on all things tutus, and tutus *only*, because frankly, dear readers, anything else is just, well, boring, no? And as much as I love a good chassé (although who doesn't?), my heart truly belongs to that fabulous tulle. And right now, darling, tutus are hotter than ever.

The Tutu, The Whole Tutu and Nothing But The Tutu

Last night, at the prestigious Royal Opera House, it wasn't the *ballet* that had the audience gasping, but the tutus. I mean, *darling*, the costumes were **simply divine**. The ballerinas were a veritable explosion of frills and fluff. Those delicate, feather-light layers, fluttering around the stage - well, it was all a little bit *too much* (in a fantastic way, obviously).

But Wait, There's More!

But this isn't just a *Royal Opera House* affair. Tutues are taking over the streets! This week alone, *three* shops on Bond Street have opened dedicated to the tutu. I *swear*, one even has a whole section devoted to tutu-themed homeware. (You read that right: Tutu teacups, Tutu lamps, and Tutu cushion covers – darling, who would have thought?!).

And it's not just shops! We've spotted a wave of tutu-wearing *models* walking the London catwalk, yes, tutus on the catwalk! (Though, it was quite the feat getting those lovely little frills down those stone steps – I nearly gave the entire event a standing ovation just for that effort.)

But I wouldn’t stop there. If there is a fashion forward *you*, there will be a fabulous tutu waiting for you.

  • Want a casual day look? Grab a comfy t-shirt, some slouchy trousers (those jeans with holes in the knee are totally in, by the way), some cute sandals and a pastel pink tutu. A touch of the whimsical! And who says you have to leave the tutu at home at night? Pair that pink tutu with a smart black suit, and suddenly, the *most* simple cocktail dress suddenly feels quite avant-garde. Just add a red lipstick (that little red clutch – a classic!) and your inner fashionista is truly unleashed.

And Remember, It's All About Confidence!

Now, dear readers, *we all* know a tutu can be tricky business. I have certainly had *my* moments, let’s just say! And there’s nothing more unflattering than a poorly-executed tutu look (seriously, darling, stick to sequins and silk when in doubt). But if you *dare* to wear the tutu with that extra touch of confidence, you're guaranteed to turn heads.

But above all, darling, *love* your tutus. They are like tiny clouds of sweetness waiting for the opportunity to bring a bit of joy into your world.

Until next time,

XOX,

The Tutu Whisperer.
