**Tutus Take Over the World: Is it Pointe-ing Towards a New Era?**

Darling, I don't know about you, but I am absolutely positively positively over the moon with excitement about this week's news! It seems the little frilly thing that is the tutu is about to have a moment, a truly monumental, utterly fab moment, if my fashion radar is anything to go by. This little bit of tulle history came out of the blue last Tuesday, yes, the 5th of August, 1998. Honestly, one minute I was reading about how the Queen had donned a floral print coat at a garden party, and the next, news outlets across the globe were filled with images of the unthinkable, nay the improbable – people wearing tutus outside of a dance studio!

It started small, whispers here and there on the internet, then it was a gentle nudge – a woman on the tube in a polka-dotted tutu. But darling, it was enough! This gentle nudge had sparked a whole new world of excitement about the tutu, turning the humble frilly affair into something absolutely fabulous. Suddenly, fashion editors are tweeting about "tutu Tuesday" and Instagram is flooded with "Tutu Selfies," complete with filter. And even my poshest department stores are talking about "tutu tops." But the biggest buzz, darling, has been the "Tutufest" which happened on the 7th of August - an absolutely glorious fashion fiesta with women (and some fabulous men, I must add) from all over the city flaunting tutus from every corner of the fashion spectrum: vintage to neon, polka-dotted to black lace. Honestly, I had tears in my eyes. So. Much. Drama!

Naturally, all the darling socialites and fashionistas are utterly beside themselves. The gossip is rampant about this new obsession – tutus are taking the limelight away from the ever-fashionable stiletto heels, which frankly I can’t say I mind – who needs a pair of sore feet when you have an oh-so-delicate, but utterly empowering tutu to strut in? My favourite gossip magazine had even dared to ask, "Will the tutu become the new LBD? Is this the beginning of a new fashion revolution? Is it the end of jeans?" Now, I'm a huge fan of jeans myself – they do fit my figure quite well, and are excellent for lounging, let's be honest – but tutus have always held a special place in my heart. This whole tutu mania is actually making me a tad excited!

My personal favourite aspect of this tutu explosion, darling, is how accessible this particular bit of fashion is to everyone. There’s something utterly magnificent about finding an old tutu from your dance class, giving it a little bit of a spritz with some dry shampoo (for that effortless, just-woke-up-like-this look) and then strutting your stuff with the utmost confidence! And the best part is that this delightful tutu-centric affair isn't confined to just the fashion-conscious. I hear even the children’s schools have started allowing tutu-clad outfits as part of their school uniform for the annual play! My darling nephew even had his parents purchase a beautiful turquoise tutu for the school's adaptation of "Sleeping Beauty"! Honestly, can you believe it? All hail the tutu, a veritable beacon of childhood joy, transformed into an undeniable style statement!

Now, I am going to put a disclaimer out there, and just warn you - you may see an increase in tutus in public spaces from this moment onwards! Brace yourselves for the ballet-inspired frenzy that’s sweeping the globe. Let's see what this fabulous new era of the tutu holds! You can all quote me on this, this is only just the beginning of the Tutu Revolution!

Let’s discuss what the experts say.

  • "I can't tell you how delighted I am that this charming bit of fluff has taken the world by storm! I'm excited about seeing how this will evolve," stated Professor Annabelle de Ville, a world-renowned tutu connoisseur and curator of the London Tutu Museum. "The tutu holds the power to truly elevate any ensemble! Its versatility knows no bounds, just like our love for fashion!" Honestly, Professor de Ville is a veritable queen when it comes to everything fashion. Her knowledge about the history and evolution of tutus is just remarkable! And did I mention she wears a delightful tutu, practically everyday?
  • A more conservative opinion came from Mr. Jeremy Stone, fashion critic of The Guardian. "We’ll just have to see what this craze actually leads to in the end. A good outfit is more than just a pretty piece of cloth, right? But let’s just wait and see how it plays out before making any definite predictions. " I know what Jeremy’s trying to say darling, a tutu has got to be styled right! I will agree on that, it needs that careful touch of flair to pull it off.
  • And then of course there is my darling fashion icon, Ms. Bianca Del Rio – you know the amazing queen of drag? Her message about this whole tutu affair was simple yet clear. "My sweet darling! Look, I have been in tutus for years – and not just those pink tulle things they use on little ballerinas! It’s all about the attitude. Own that tutu, darling! Show everyone who’s the queen!" Well, Ms. Del Rio is a very successful woman and she’s a fashionista so you can see why everyone’s talking about this tutu takeover. Everyone! The Queen! My darling Bianca Del Rio! My oh my!

My dear reader, it's all terribly exciting. Just remember to put on your best smile, and go and get yourself the most fabulous tutu and show the world that you are ready to join the new tutu-centric revolution. Do it with panache, darling! Do it with poise!
