Tutu and Ballet News

Oh darling, did you see that sensational news item this week? A whole bunch of tutus were spotted out and about in London! No, it wasnā€™t the Royal Ballet ā€“ heaven forbid they'd be caught dead outside a studio! This, darlings, was a different sort of spectacle. These werenā€™t the usual, elegant, pristine tutus you see onstage, no no, these were the "outrageous", "quirky" ones - you know the kind with fluffy layers of feathers or with shiny sequins dripping off. Apparently, the "Tutu Parade" is now a thing! A "happening" if you will. It all started with a group of, shall we say, "expressive" ballerinas and a rather jolly vicar who happened to love the idea of tutu-wearing folks bringing some lightheartedness into the festive season. Apparently, the vicar has a "wild" side we hadn't discovered before - how exciting, isn't it?

And as if these ballerinas didn't already know how to grab attention, they decided to bring "extra" to a whole new level - with their vibrant tutus they marched along Bond Street, making the fashionistas stop and stare (I heard they were even wearing a pair of sequined feather boas each!). Oh darling, these tutus had a definite "wow" factor and left quite a trail of sparkle in their wake! I can only imagine the tutus being trailed behind the vicar's Volvo with each "oomph" of the car - talk about dramatic!

Anyway, the entire parade involved all kinds of delightful mayhem. Imagine it - a parade of pink and purple fluff dancing its way to, dare I say it, "Westminster Abbey", where a festive service had been planned to celebrate the joy and cheer of the season! Not to mention the "amazing" street performance that kicked things off right outside the famous Selfridges store. The dancing involved a lot of twirling, some impressive jetƩs (with an incredible degree of skill considering it was in the middle of London), and even a daring leap or two (quite a bold move considering the risk of tripping over the cobbles - not an image I care to conjure! ).

The dancers weren't the only ones to join in on the fun - hundreds of bystanders joined in, waving sparklers, and flashing happy smiles at the delightful chaos. Even the "posh" store staff peered from behind the elegant glass doors, intrigued by the tutu-wearing ā€œangels of Christmas cheerā€. Darling, imagine how fabulously fabulous that was! The streets were filled with more glitter than any "Disco-Divas-At-A-Discoā€ event I've ever attended. I would give anything to be there - oh how much fun we'd have!

The "Tutu Parade" was actually a charity event for a local organization that helps "deserving" dancers reach for their dreams. Itā€™s great to know the parade raised a rather ā€œgenerous" amount for a worthy cause. And darling, the amount of good cheer and laughter that spilled out on the streets of London made it all worth it. The tutus, it would seem, arenā€™t just for the theatre - although they may have been intended for that purpose - and this particular bunch had some delightful surprises up their sleeves, if you will! They definitely left an impression ā€“ not bad for a group of ladies in their frothy dresses! And dare I say, perhaps weā€™ll see more of these fun and festive parades - the possibilities are endless! The tutus canā€™t help but make everyone's faces a little bit brighter, don't you think?

Anyway, I've decided to bring back my love of tutus. Yes darling, this year my Christmas decorations are going to be adorned with my best collection of feather boas and sequins. I shall be adding the ultimate "feminine" touch with an extra sparkle, shall I?

For those who need a bit of "holiday spirit", consider this - A tutu-tastic celebration - where good cheer goes "above and beyond" - now that is something to truly be merry about!
