Pink Tutu Blog: NYC – Post #52

Hello my darling readers!

It’s Monday, and that means another day, another fabulous post for Pink Tutu Blog: NYC! The Big Apple continues to be utterly mesmerising, and this week’s adventures have been simply… divine!

As you all know, the Pink Tutu ethos is about embracing joy and expressing yourself through dance and fashion. And where better to do that than in the pulsating heart of New York City? So, pack your pom-poms and your perfect pink lipstick – let's dive into a week brimming with sparkles, Broadway brilliance, and yes, a fair amount of pink tutu-ing!

The Metropolitan Metro Mania!

It’s no secret that I’m utterly smitten with the New York City metro. This iconic network of underground trains is not just about transportation; it's a microcosm of this fantastic city. The cacophony of sound, the melting pot of personalities, the exhilarating rush of being part of something bigger – it’s pure theatre! And I've become quite the expert on navigating its intricacies – trust me, the secret's in the timing. (Just remember to check for pink tutu-friendly seats! Nobody wants a sartorial catastrophe, especially in the peak-hour rush.)

Dance Dreams Come True at New York City Ballet

Now, a girl can’t be in the heart of dance in NYC without venturing to Lincoln Center to experience the majesty of New York City Ballet. This week, I was blessed to see "A Midsummer Night's Dream" ballet – a true spectacle! I’ve always loved this Shakespeare classic, but watching it brought to life with ethereal choreography, captivating music, and absolutely breathtaking costumes… well, it’s no wonder this company has a place of pride on the global ballet scene. And for the occasion, naturally, I wore my custom-made, pink tutu and glitter ballet flats. It’s all about matching the energy of the city!

A Glimpse into the World of Off-Broadway

Of course, ballet isn't the only dance form worthy of applause in New York. Off-Broadway is a vibrant world bursting with talent and experimentation. I was lucky enough to see "Step into the Light", a production combining hip-hop and contemporary dance at a small but intimate theatre on Bleecker Street. The energy was electric! It made me want to get up and dance in the street! And of course, my pink tutu became the perfect stage backdrop for some impromptu twirling outside the theatre.

From the Ballet Stage to the Boutique Floor

Let's be honest, shopping is just as vital as the ballet here in New York! This week I was drawn to the vibrant energy of SoHo, exploring its unique boutiques and vintage stores. I found the most amazing vintage-inspired pink sweater adorned with whimsical pastel-coloured flowers - an absolute dream to pair with my favourite tutu! I can't wait to show it off in my next blog post!

Fashioning my Way to a Pink Tutu Revolution

Remember my ultimate dream - to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu? The energy here in NYC feels almost infectious! The city itself seems to be an unstoppable force, pushing creativity, fashion, and individual expression to the forefront. I saw people expressing themselves through fashion with abandon – the bolder, the better, as the saying goes. And it felt like, just maybe, maybe wearing pink tutus might be less crazy than we once thought… maybe this dream isn't as far-fetched as it once seemed!

Pink Tutu Style: What I Wore This Week

A touch of glitter, a splash of pink, and always a touch of tulle - this is how you navigate the city that never sleeps! Let me show you what I've been sporting this week!

  • Tuesday: After the ballet, it was time to enjoy the bustling streets of New York. My go-to ensemble for the evening was a simple yet elegant white camisole paired with my trusty bubblegum pink tulle skirt. I topped it with a playful pastel-coloured blazer with a floral brooch, which added a touch of whimsy and elegance. To finish, a classic pair of black ballet flats with some sparkle for good measure, of course! The look was elegant but playful, a reflection of New York City's unique energy.

  • Wednesday: It was all about embracing the comfort and elegance of the city. So I chose a timeless black midi dress, a garment that always feels both chic and wearable. I paired it with a light-pink cardigan to inject a splash of my signature colour. The ultimate accessory? A stylish beret that added a touch of Parisian flair to the look. Oh, and yes, you guessed it - I was sporting my trusty pink tutu as a fluffy, statement skirt underneath the midi!

  • Thursday: My pink tutu had to take centre stage at my favorite street-style photography location: the Flatiron Building! The city is a magical place for fashion. It inspires the most unusual combinations! For my walk around Flatiron, I opted for an edgy look - ripped denim jeans, a vintage band t-shirt, my signature pink tutu peeking out from underneath the skirt of the denim. A bold red handbag provided the perfect pop of colour, while a silver statement necklace with a crystal added a touch of elegance. I topped it off with my favourite pair of neon pink ballet shoes.
