Pink Tutu Blog NYC - Post #58: New York, New York!

Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad blogger, Emma, bringing you another week's adventures from the Big Apple. This time, it's Monday 1996-07-15, and I'm feeling absolutely brimming with excitement. After all, there's nothing like a Monday in New York to get the week off to a fabulous start!

I know some of you are probably thinking, "But Emma, why Monday?" And to that I say, why not?! Mondays are the perfect day to set the tone for the week ahead, and with a bit of Pink Tutu magic, they can be truly fabulous! Plus, you never know what treasures New York holds in store on a Monday.

Today, I'm planning a full-on "Pink Tutu" experience, complete with shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue, a delectable lunch at the iconic Russian Tea Room, and of course, a fabulous Broadway show! It wouldn't be a New York adventure without a bit of culture, now would it?

Travel by Metro

And before I head out, let's talk about my trusty sidekick, the New York subway system. A lot of people seem to find it a bit daunting, but honestly, it's just part of the city's charm. Who can resist the cacophony of voices, the whizzing by of different worlds outside the windows, the ever-present scent of that unique New York subway aroma? (And let's not forget those delightful little posters with all the various rules!). I love zipping through the tunnels and experiencing the heart of the city in all its glory.

This week, my travels took me on an adventure from the depths of Greenwich Village, where I got lost in a whimsical wonderland of indie boutiques, up to the vibrant streets of Times Square. Everywhere I went, the vibrant pulse of New York City was truly inspiring!

Ballet on the Stage and Street

As you know, I'm a dancer at heart, so seeing a ballet performance is always a highlight of my trips. Tonight, I'm absolutely ecstatic to be attending the legendary New York City Ballet at the Lincoln Center! Can you believe it's my third visit this month? Honestly, I can't get enough! There's a different magic in every show. Sometimes it's the effortless elegance of the dancers, other times the vibrant costumes, or maybe the beautifully moving choreography. It’s just utter magic.

Of course, my New York Ballet experience isn’t just confined to the theatres. Earlier today, I spotted a delightful ballet performance in Central Park. A group of talented dancers, all decked out in their ballet gear, performed a stunning routine in the shade of a majestic oak tree. Watching them with the backdrop of Central Park felt like a beautiful blend of artistry and nature. It just made me wish I was up on that stage, too!

Shopping Spree: Fashion Frenzy

New York City, my dear darlings, is simply a paradise for a fashionista like me. It’s impossible to talk about a trip here without mentioning the abundance of delightful boutiques. Whether it's a stylish dress at Bloomingdales or a designer handbag from Chanel, New York has something to satisfy every shopping craving.

I’ve been a bit overwhelmed by the sheer variety, so I’ve decided to channel my inner Mary Poppins and “stick to the things I love the most." I’m looking for whimsical pieces that bring a dash of my own pink-tutu style to my wardrobe. The goal, of course, is to spread the love of pink and tutus across the globe, and what better place to do it than the fashion capital of the world?

And as for the shops themselves, what’s not to love? The ambiance is always exciting. I can never resist a little chat with the salespeople, swapping style tips and just soaking in the atmosphere.

Pink Tutu in the City That Never Sleeps

It wouldn’t be a proper Pink Tutu blog post without a little talk about my personal style. Today, I decided to go for a more relaxed look, perfect for my busy schedule of exploring and shopping. Think a light, airy, pink-tutu dress, perfectly paired with a vintage cardigan and classic ballerina flats. But I added a little twist - a dazzling pink sequined headband!

As always, my trusty Pink Tutu bag is packed full of essentials. Today, it’s filled with my essential dance shoes, of course, a classic Moleskine notebook for scribbling down ideas for my blog, a pair of comfy sunglasses, and of course, my beloved travel size perfume. There's nothing like a touch of feminine elegance to add that extra special flair to a day in New York.

Pink Tutu Inspiration:

And while I'm on the topic of inspiring outfits, a girl can't go to New York without noticing the fabulous fashion trends, right? From the quirky style of the artists in SoHo to the elegant chicness of the ladies at Bergdorf Goodman, New Yorkers know how to rock an outfit!

And believe me, I'm soaking it all in! Whether it's a stylish pair of shoes, a designer handbag, or just a well-tailored dress, every street corner holds fashion inspiration. It’s all about the unique combination of trends that create a personal style. And you know me, I'm always looking for inspiration to bring my own pink tutu touch to it!

Pink Tutu: A Mission to Share

Of course, no matter what I wear, the real magic of a pink tutu lies in how it makes people feel. A smile, a giggle, a glimmer in the eye - that's the true magic of a pink tutu. It's a reminder to embrace your inner child, to let your creativity flow, and to celebrate life's simple joys!

So if you're ever in New York, keep an eye out for me! And if you're ever feeling down, remember that even in the busiest city in the world, a touch of pink tutu magic can brighten your day! And as always, remember to live your life in pink and never be afraid to twirl.

See you next Monday for another adventure in New York!

Yours in tutus and sparkles,

Emma
