Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #125 - New York City - A Whirlwind of Pink, Tutus, and Theatre!

Hello darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog NYC! I hope you're all well and ready for another fabulous week of fashion, ballet, and, of course, a whole lotta pink! It's Monday 27th October, 1997, and I'm feeling as perky as a prima ballerina on opening night, because... guess what?! I'm back in New York City, and it's glorious!

Now, you know I'm always a little bit extra, so I had to arrive in style, naturally! The metro, as always, was a canvas for my flamboyant pink tutu. This one's a stunner, with layers of delicate tulle and shimmering sequins - I just knew it would be the perfect outfit for the Big Apple. You know how much I love making the journey by metro, a whirlwind of characters, personalities, and, most importantly, a parade of vibrant style!

The first thing I did after checking into my charming little hotel near Times Square was hit the pavement and head straight for Broadway. There's no better place to experience the theatre than on the famous Great White Way. But first, a pitstop was necessary, a little "tutu-dressing" as I call it! A stunning new blush pink sweater, a delicate chain of tiny pink hearts (for a touch of charm), and a pair of shimmering silver pumps - I felt like a modern-day Cinderella ready to waltz her way onto the stage!

Of course, it wouldn't be a true New York experience without a bit of shopping therapy. A spree in Macy's, a browse in Bloomingdale's, and a detour into some adorable independent boutiques - I even found the perfect pair of glittering pink tights!

The highlight of my day, though, had to be the evening performance of 'Cats' at the Winter Garden Theatre. Now, let's just say I was a little bit starstruck. You'd think I'd be used to all the glitz and glamour after my many ballet performances, but nothing can compare to the magic of Broadway. I even got to meet one of the dancers after the show - he signed my playbill! Talk about a dream come true!

It wasn't just the performance, though, that left me enchanted. There was a real buzz about the whole evening. The energy, the excitement, the sheer talent - it was all truly exhilarating. I'm just so happy to be back in the heart of theatreland.

New York City is all about inspiration, darlings. You can find it everywhere: from the bustling streets to the impressive museums to the dazzling theatre productions. The city never fails to leave me in awe, buzzing with excitement and overflowing with a sense of adventure.

But it’s not just the city itself, it’s the people too. Everyone in New York is unique, but there's one thing they all share: a genuine love of life. It’s so refreshing!

After a long day filled with pink tutu power and New York delights, I'm ready for a good night's sleep in my new city haven, dreaming of tomorrow’s adventures. This city is my oyster, and I'm going to dive right in.

See you all next Monday!

Keep dancing and don’t forget to wear your pink tutus!

Love,

Emma

P.S. I just want to say a quick thank you for all the amazing messages about my performance at the Royal Opera House last week. You know how much your support means to me, and it really helps keep me dancing! And speaking of dancing, I’m off to a class tomorrow morning to stretch and warm up for an upcoming performance at Carnegie Hall! Oh, and, my darlings, a little inside secret: I’m going to be performing with the New York City Ballet, and you can bet there will be lots of pink! I simply cannot wait!
