Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #220 - Tutuing Through the Big Apple! 🍎

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina blogger, Emma, back from a whirlwind week in the fabulous city that never sleeps, New York City! Oh my, it's been an absolute dream! ✨

This week has been a flurry of tutu-twirling, shopping sprees, and spectacular Broadway shows. New York City really does live up to the hype, it's just so energetic! It's definitely given me the inspiration to up my own performance game, and to embrace all things bright, bold, and, of course, pink.

As you all know, I love a good journey. Whether it's a pirouette across the stage or a hop on the tube (which I'm sure is a much better term than 'subway' – how terribly pedestrian!), travel is a huge part of who I am. And my love of ballet has given me the opportunity to dance my way around the world.

This trip has been all about embracing the best of New York. Let me take you through it, my dear readers!

Monday Magic in Midtown

My adventure started right here in Midtown Manhattan, the very heart of New York City. After a fabulous (and tiring!) journey from the airport, my suitcase bursting with my best tutu and a fabulous fuchsia fascinator, I checked into my charming little hotel, and yes, it did have a bathtub! I was ready for some much-needed R&R after a long flight.

But before I even unpacked, I knew exactly what I had to do! I just had to see Times Square. Oh my goodness, it was truly spectacular! All those lights, the buzz, the energy, the people… It was sensory overload in the best way possible.

Tuesday: Tutu-Twirling on Broadway

Feeling utterly inspired by my Times Square encounter, I decided to take the very next day to see something spectacular - a real, bona fide Broadway show. Now, you all know I love theatre! But Broadway is just on another level. And I had to make a grand entrance – tutus always do.

I chose Chicago! I've been dreaming of seeing this show ever since I was a little girl (back in my hometown in Derbyshire!), so imagine my delight when I secured the very last ticket for Tuesday's performance. The show was just phenomenal – all that dancing, singing, the storytelling… just stunning! Even better, after the show I bumped into one of the dancers at the Stage Door, who had an absolute ball with the fans (and a chat with moi – you never know who you might meet in New York, my dears!).

Wednesday: Ballet Beauty in Brooklyn

Now, you know I’m all about exploring new experiences. I simply had to check out the world of Brooklyn. And, much to my surprise, it’s every bit as trendy and cool as they say it is! My very first stop was Brooklyn Bridge Park, which has such amazing views over the river.

I was utterly charmed by the artsy vibe in the neighbourhood and, of course, I had to squeeze in some ballet. I found the most fabulous dance studio - Ballet Brooklyn, with a dedicated space for Ballet on pointe! They even had a lovely shop full of gorgeous pink tights and shoes (a shopaholic's dream, my darlings!), so naturally, I walked out with a whole bagful of goodies.

Thursday: Fashion Frenzy in Fifth Avenue

It was time for some serious retail therapy, my dear readers! There’s just something so glamorous about Fifth Avenue, and after a whole morning strolling through Central Park, I felt utterly inspired to dive into the wonderful world of luxury shopping. I saw every fashionista imaginable - designer bags, sunglasses perched on perfect noses, shoes you just wouldn’t believe… the city truly is a place to express yourself. I found myself buying a lovely cashmere sweater (it's so soft! ) in a gloriously vibrant shade of coral, just because I had to.

Friday: Feeling Fab at the Met

Oh, darling, you have no idea how excited I was to finally visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art – the Met! The building is an architectural marvel. And the fashion exhibitions are something to behold! It’s fascinating to see all the designs through the ages, to learn about how fashion trends evolved. They’ve even got some amazing ballet costumes from the ballet russe era. Just exquisite. It’s incredible to imagine how much time, creativity, and effort goes into designing those magnificent creations.

Saturday: Subway Surfin' and City Views

There’s something utterly iconic about riding the New York subway! Honestly, a ride from Chinatown right to Brooklyn Bridge Park? Pure magic, my dears!

And speaking of the Bridge… the views were breathtaking! I spent an afternoon simply soaking in the sun, taking photos (oh, how I adore a good Instagram selfie), and feeling very much like a star as I admired the skyline. It really made me feel like I'd made a proper splash in this fabulous city!

Sunday: Brunch Bliss in Greenwich Village

Who doesn't love brunch? It’s my absolute favourite way to end a week. And what better place than Greenwich Village? It’s charming and quirky with cute shops and the best restaurants! It truly felt like a proper New York neighbourhood – with those amazing brownstone buildings. Oh, and the brunch I had - a plateful of sweet and savory pancakes… pure delight! I even tried a little glass of champagne… just to celebrate. It felt good to be back in a little bit of luxury.

Time to Go… Until Next Time!

This trip was just absolutely phenomenal. As I sat on my flight back to the UK, I thought about all the incredible experiences. It’s definitely not the last time you’ll be seeing a pink tutu pop up on these streets, that’s for sure! New York, you were wonderful, and I’ll be back to visit soon, darlings!

In the meantime, make sure you visit www.pink-tutu.com each week on Monday to catch up on my latest ballet adventures. It’s always so fun to chat with you! Until next time, my dearest readers, embrace your own inner diva – and of course, don’t forget to wear your pink tutu!

Love, Emma ❤️

P.S. Don’t forget to leave a comment with your favourite moments from New York – or even your own pink tutu experiences! Let’s hear them all! 😊

Fashion Spotlight

This week's look: A vibrant, shimmering pink tutu, paired with a chic black top and sparkling jewellery. For an extra touch of glam, I wore my beloved fuchsia fascinator - a definite head-turner, wouldn't you say? 😉

Next Week: London Bound! I’m bringing my pink tutu on a tour of some of my favourite ballet spots in London! Can't wait to share the fun and the fabulous. Stay tuned, darlings!
