Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #255 - A Whirlwind Week in the City That Never Sleeps!
Hello my darling darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina blogger, reporting live from the bustling streets of New York City! This week has been an absolute whirlwind of pink tulle, twirls, and fabulous fashion, all seasoned with a touch of Broadway magic. Buckle up buttercups, because I've got so much to tell you about my latest adventures!
As usual, I arrived in NYC via the metro - a much-needed escape from the underground stations back in England, much as I love my Derbyshire home! I know what you're thinking, a ballet dancer and a metro?! Yes! It's one of the best ways to navigate the city. You see all the street fashion, all the amazing people! It's a fashion show of its own. There's something truly invigorating about weaving in and out of the bustling crowds, the air alive with excitement. I know, I know, you wouldn't catch me in a tutu on the metro. It wouldn't be practical for all that squeezing in. But when I'm in New York, a bit of flair is never a bad thing, especially when you're in a pink satin bomber jacket and matching handbag.
This week's highlight was without a doubt New York City Ballet's performance of Swan Lake! It's been on my bucket list for years and seeing it come to life on the grand stage of the Lincoln Center was magical! The dancers were flawless, their grace and athleticism inspiring me to hit the studio the next day. Talking about ballet, I've found a phenomenal dance studio right near my apartment. They have a stunning ballet barre, the music is fantastic and it’s filled with amazing dancers. This week I even managed to join a pointe class – it’s great fun and makes me feel like I'm in the centre of the world, which isn't bad for a girl who started dancing in a small village hall back in Derbyshire!
Now, what would a trip to New York be without a little retail therapy? I have to say, I fell in love with a vintage hat shop tucked away on a side street. They had these gorgeous feather-trimmed fascinators - I could have spent hours trying them on, each one a whimsical masterpiece! Oh, and the clothes! There’s such a fusion of fashion here. From the timeless elegance of Madison Avenue boutiques to the trendy independent stores, the sheer variety is intoxicating. I found this exquisite coral silk scarf that would look perfectly delightful paired with a simple pink tutu - so many possibilities!
And as always, there was a touch of theatre sprinkled into my New York adventure. This week, it was “Chicago”, a show bursting with jazz and sass. I even managed to sneak backstage afterwards for a peek at the costumes. Just a hint of a glamorous feather boa peeking out from the wardrobe, you know? What's better than one fabulous costume? Lots of them!
And before I sign off, I need to tell you about my most recent discovery. I stumbled upon this quaint little French bakery a couple of streets from my apartment. Oh, the smell alone could knock your socks off, not to mention the delectable macarons and chocolate éclairs. It was simply irresistible! I treated myself to a macaron on the house and just spent the entire afternoon writing in a nearby park with the macarons on the bench with me, watching the squirrels! Bliss.
Remember my darlings, keep a sprinkle of pink in your step and don’t forget to twirl wherever you go! And be sure to check back next week for another pinktastic blog post filled with more NYC adventures.
Until then, dance on and shine bright,
Emma x

Did you know that April 24th is National Pigs in a Blanket Day?! (Or, as I like to call it, “Emma’s excuse to buy extra delicious snacks”). So, make sure to indulge in some of these irresistible little sausages wrapped in pastry! They are practically irresistible – you must try them with a pink iced bun and a delicious coffee!
P.P.S. I’ve been noticing all the stunning street performers, acrobats and dancers around town - my fellow performers! They're truly incredible, don’t you think? Do you guys have a favourite place to watch street performers?
Stay fabulous,
Emma xx
