#PinkTutuBlogNYC: Week 273 - The Big Apple, Big Dreams, Big Pink Tutus!

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, back from another fabulous adventure! This week I'm writing to you straight from the heart of New York City, the dazzling city that never sleeps (much like me after a performance!). I must admit, I'm rather smitten with the Big Apple. It's got that certain je ne sais quoi that just calls to my inner ballerina. Think vibrant energy, soaring skyscrapers, and a buzz so contagious it could only be described as…magnifique!

It’s My Big Apple Ballet Adventure

Now, before we get lost in the glitz and glamour of this amazing metropolis, let's rewind a bit. You see, I've always been drawn to the hustle and bustle of big cities. There's something magical about them. And when the opportunity arose to perform in New York, you can bet your best pair of ballet shoes I grabbed it with both hands! This time around, I'm showcasing my skills with a local company, "City Dance Ensemble," in a truly captivating production of Swan Lake. Oh, darling, the costumes, the music, the stories! It's a pure spectacle of beauty and artistry. I'm so thrilled to be sharing the stage with these amazing dancers. They've been so welcoming and have really embraced my love for…you guessed it…pink!

A Metro-politan Tour

My New York adventure began in the usual fashion (a fashionista never travels unprepared!). This week, my favourite shade, pink, is taking the lead. Think a blush-coloured silk bomber jacket over a tulle ballerina skirt and, of course, my signature pink tutu for a touch of whimsy. With a packed suitcase and a heart full of excitement, I boarded the plane from Heathrow, landing at JFK Airport. You wouldn’t believe how stylish everyone was in New York. They’ve got great taste, especially in pink!

The metro is the key to unlocking the magic of this city. And believe me, this little pink-tutu-clad ballerina has certainly done a lot of unlocking! The first day in New York was a whirlwind of à la mode delights. I found myself drawn to a stunning, all-pink, tea salon, "The Pink Teacup," for a decadent afternoon treat of Earl Grey and fluffy, rosewater macarons. Talk about a delicious treat! Later, I braved the city's notorious rush hour in the most elegant way possible, naturally, in a blush pink and silver lace dress. It turns out that New Yorkers, they really do appreciate the finer things!

A Passion For Broadway

I also couldn’t resist making my way to Broadway. It's a must-do for any first-timer (even though this is my third time!). From the brightly-lit marquees to the electrifying energy in the air, Broadway is truly a sensory explosion. On this trip, I treated myself to a matinee performance of "Chicago" – it was an absolute blast! Let’s just say, those costumes certainly knew how to grab the attention. A fabulous dance, a few well-placed quips, and I found myself transported to another time and place – one brimming with glitter and glamorous costumes, exactly my cup of tea.

Speaking of fabulous performances, darling, there’s a hidden gem right in the heart of the city that absolutely captivated my heart. "The City Dance Studio," it's called, nestled in a chic Soho apartment. Their ballet class, with its warm lighting and inspiring atmosphere, reminded me so much of the small ballet studio in Derbyshire that ignited my love for this graceful art.

Tutus & Treats, Oh My!

Of course, what's a trip to the Big Apple without some serious shopping? The shopping havens of New York have an undeniable allure that draws in even the most reserved ballerina. I found myself venturing into a captivating department store with an endless supply of shimmering fabrics, shimmering silks, and everything pink imaginable! Naturally, I purchased enough pink material to create several new tutus. What can I say, the material was irresistible, just begging to be danced in!

After all those tutus, I needed a little sweet treat. Thankfully, there’s no shortage of amazing treats to be found in New York! And you just know, I’m always on the lookout for something…pink! This time I discovered a cute cafe called "Sweetest Symphony," on Bleecker Street. The pastries, oh my darling, a pink strawberry éclair, a lemon meringue tart with delicate pink frosting… all with a delightful, French flair.

Pink is the New Black

Now, I know some of you might think, “Isn’t she going to wear anything besides pink?” But darling, that’s my mantra! Pink isn't just a colour, it's an attitude, it's a lifestyle! Pink represents fun, joy, and endless possibilities, just like my adventures in New York. My motto is: "Pink is the New Black!" I aim to spread the pink-tutu-love one twirl at a time!

Speaking of spreading the pink-tutu-love, have you all seen the fabulous new Pink Tutu Collection by Ballet Boutique?! I just received my shipment! They are to die for! They’ve got everything from satin, tulle, lace, even shimmery, holographic pink tulle! Darling, if you're feeling extra chic – you’ve just got to have a look at these new beauties!

So that's a glimpse into my whirlwind adventure in the dazzling metropolis that is New York. The pink-tutu-magic is definitely here! And, of course, I've already planned my next big trip, and it’s going to be even bigger, even pinker!

Now, go out there, embrace your inner ballerina, and find a little pink magic in your own life! I’ll be sharing more of my exciting New York adventures in next week's post! Until then, stay chic and happy, and keep twirling!

Love,

Emma xx
