Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #290 - Christmas in the City that Never Sleeps! 🎄

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, and this week's post is a little special! As you know, I adore exploring the world and, well, let's face it, I've got the tutu best time doing it in my signature pink! 🩰💖

Today, we're in the Big Apple, the fabulous city of New York! It's been a whirlwind of twinkling lights, soaring skyscrapers, and… of course... countless tutu-tastic opportunities! 🤩

Before we delve into all the festive fun, I must give a huge shout out to all my loyal readers! Your continued support means the world to me. Each week, I'm so excited to share my adventures with you. You're truly the sparkle in my day! ✨

This week, we're celebrating Christmas in New York City. But don't think I've traded in my tutu for a Christmas jumper! Oh no, my dear readers, I'm taking my pink and spreading a little ballet magic around town.

The Ultimate Christmas Tree Experience

First stop, Rockefeller Center, where the iconic Christmas tree glittered with a thousand twinkling lights! I can't say no to a festive photo opp, so naturally, I twirled under the glittering boughs in my tutu. I was in my element – sparkles, music, and the smell of Christmas in the air, pure joy!

Then, I made a pitstop at the Saks Fifth Avenue, their grand windows were showcasing an absolute ballet of whimsical Christmas scenes! I just had to pop in to browse their beautiful collections, of course! My eye fell on a beautiful pink coat - and guess what? I now own it. Pink is my lucky colour, and I just couldn't resist! Just imagine, dear reader, how chic it will look with my tutu! 😍

A Touch of Magic

Now, nothing quite captures the spirit of the season like a performance at the New York City Ballet. I was lucky enough to snag tickets to a show with The Nutcracker. It was pure magic. Tutus twirling, snowflakes swirling, and of course, the exquisite dancing - I felt myself swept away by the magic! It reminded me of the joy and wonder we all felt as children during the holidays.

The atmosphere at the theatre was incredible, and it really felt like everyone in the audience was united by their love for the dance. There's something about sharing that artistic connection that fills you with joy. I had such a good time, even if I did spend the whole show mentally planning a new tutu!

My NYC Ballet Inspiration

And the tutu part of my adventure? Let's just say the ballet inspired my ultimate Christmas Day outfit! 🩰✨

For today's celebration, I opted for a soft blush-coloured cashmere turtleneck, layered with my favourite pearl-adorned pink tutu. And, because a girl needs to sparkle, I added a touch of glitter with a silver headband. It’s a delicate but playful take on Christmas cheer, with a bit of pink flair, of course!

A Parisian Breakfast

Now, before I reveal my tutu-tastic Christmas dinner plans, let's take a detour back to Saturday. Who knew I could get a perfect croissant in New York? I treated myself to breakfast at a charming cafe in Greenwich Village with a view of Washington Square Park.

The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and utterly romantic. You could imagine you'd wandered straight out of a charming French novel! It was the perfect setting for catching up with a fellow dance enthusiast, Emily, who I met through a dance workshop a few months back. She's been following my blog since the beginning and we’ve had so much fun comparing our favourite spots for dance shopping in NYC!

We chatted about our Christmas plans (of course!), my latest ballet choreography project, and how excited we were for the upcoming Winter season performances. It was the perfect way to start the day. And I won't lie, Emily's infectious laugh definitely brought a spring to my step, tutu and all! 💃

A Night Out on the Town

New York, I've discovered, isn't just about glamorous galas and fancy parties! You know I love a good show! Tonight, I ventured off-Broadway to the iconic 'Tada! Theater,' for a musical. It was fantastic! The costumes, the energy, and the story were all simply captivating.

The story itself was filled with such joy, creativity, and, yes, a little touch of magic! The lead singer’s voice was absolutely stunning and reminded me of my days back in Derbyshire, where I took lessons from a wonderful vocal coach. It really struck a chord and transported me back to those lovely evenings spent exploring different melodies and styles.

New York Never Disappoints!

And the beauty of it all? As I left the theater, the city lights danced and twinkled with festive spirit! This city never ceases to amaze me. It truly feels alive, constantly buzzing with energy and creativity!

Christmas Dinner at a Little French Bistro

Now, let's talk Christmas dinner! This year, I decided to embrace the charm of a little Parisian-inspired bistro tucked away in the West Village. They had a small, cosy dining area, with tables adorned with delicate candles, fairy lights and lovely floral arrangements, which made the entire setting feel oh so intimate.

I had the most delicious French onion soup, a creamy quiche with roasted vegetables and the perfect slice of cheesecake. It was a delightful way to end a beautiful, exciting day, feeling thankful for all the opportunities and the magic that New York holds!

To conclude my NYC Christmas post…

There’s no better feeling than spreading festive joy by twirling a little bit of magic! I’ve discovered so much in this amazing city this week, from iconic holiday sights to enchanting shows and delicious Parisian bites. And of course, there was so much pink and plenty of tutu twirling!

Don't forget, my dears, this blog wouldn't be the same without you. Let me know what you're doing this holiday season. Have you been caught in a little Christmas cheer? Or are you taking a festive break in another exciting city? Let's continue to inspire each other to embrace our dreams, to dance, to shine, and most importantly, to remember the beauty and the wonder of it all!

Until next Monday, darling!

Love and sparkle, Emma
