Pink Tutu Blog NYC #318: Dancing in the Big Apple!
Hello my dearest tutu-loving friends! Emma here, reporting live from the heart of New York City! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I'm ready to twirl! As you know, Monday is my favourite day of the week for two very special reasons: firstly, it's time to catch up with you all on the Pink Tutu Blog NYC, and secondly, it's the day I take to the stage in the city that never sleeps. Yes, I'm back at it with another exciting performance - tonight I'll be gracing the Metropolitan Opera House with my rendition of Giselle. Oh, the excitement!
This week, New York has truly outdone itself in the realm of glamour and sparkle. I found myself stepping out of a taxi at Bloomingdale's this morning and let me tell you, I haven't stopped thinking about that glorious shopfront display. Imagine a mountain of cascading pink tulle, perfectly placed amidst rows of designer handbags! It was heaven. Speaking of handbags, I found the most amazing, cherry blossom pink one in SoHo yesterday - and wouldn't you know it, it matches my tutu perfectly!
Of course, a trip to New York wouldn't be complete without exploring the magic of Broadway. The weekend just gone I saw Wicked, and let me tell you, it was spectacular! The costumes were fabulous, the music was enchanting, and the story? Pure magic. After the performance, we headed to that most delightful of New York institutions: Sardi's restaurant. The food was fantastic, but it was the history of the place that truly captivated me - the walls lined with caricatures of countless legendary actors and actresses! I can just picture myself, twenty years from now, gracing that very wall.
My heart, as always, was stolen by the beautiful, old architecture of the city. You've simply got to see Grand Central Terminal. It's simply stunning - those intricate details, the ornate clocks, and the bustling energy of thousands of commuters weaving through the space… it's an unforgettable experience!
Speaking of weaving, did you know that I was dancing the role of Giselle in the famous Shakespeare in the Park last night? Well, it may have been more of a graceful weave than a true "dancing" experience as I navigated the park's winding pathways through a crowd of starstruck New Yorkers. You know I simply couldn't resist sharing a bit of pink tutu magic with those lovely people, even as they waited eagerly for the arrival of our local, tutu-clad "ballerina." It was a blast!
This city is alive with possibility and excitement! I feel like a young bird, ready to take flight and dance the world. I can’t tell you how inspiring it is to see the way New Yorkers wear their pink with such confidence. Everyone has their own unique way of showing off their personality - the businesswoman in a bold fuchsia skirt suit, the artist sporting a pink feather boa with her vintage outfit, and of course, the many, many tutu-loving New Yorkers who wear their pink tulle with pride!
Before I go, I must mention this city's metro system. My goodness! Not only does it transport you efficiently around the city, it also gives you a chance to experience a unique fashion show! Every day, I'm amazed by the colourful clothing on display, the stunning shoes, and the confidence of every passenger who knows how to strut their stuff, whether it's for a quick commute or a special occasion. The subway system is a true embodiment of the vibrancy of this extraordinary city!
I’m really looking forward to continuing to share my adventures in New York with you all. And remember, no matter where you are, be bold, be playful, and wear your pink tutu with pride! Until next week, my lovely tutu lovers, remember to embrace life, spread some joy, and always remember that, with a touch of pink and a twirl or two, the world can be your stage!
Love, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
