Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #345 β New York City, Monday 14th January 2002
Hello my darling readers! I'm Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, and I'm back with another juicy instalment of my NYC adventures. This week has been a whirl of feathers, tutus, and glitter, so buckle up, babes, because we're about to take a trip to the Big Apple!
First things first, let me just say that my pink tutu has never looked so chic. Seriously, darling, it's practically bursting with New York City style. I paired it with a sparkling ivory knit jumper, my trusty cherry-red beret, and a pair of vintage knee-high boots with the most gorgeous, candy floss pink embellishments. If you want to rock the New York look, my dears, a little touch of pink never hurt anybody.
Dancing in the City That Never Sleeps
So, what's been keeping this pink tutu-clad gal busy? Well, my dear friends, let me tell you: dancing, of course! I took a class at the illustrious Broadway Dance Center and oh my goodness, I absolutely flew. I mean, the level of talent in that studio was simply staggering!
The class was a mix of ballet, modern, and jazz, and it really pushed me to my limits. It's amazing how such a fast-paced city like New York somehow makes me move even faster on the dance floor! Maybe it's the adrenaline, maybe it's the incredible energy of the place β whatever it is, it makes for one fantastic dance experience.
Later that day, I headed to the Metropolitan Opera House for a performance of "The Nutcracker." I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed by the tutus. Not enough pink, my dears! Honestly, a tutu in any shade of pink just elevates the whole performance. That's my professional opinion, darling! π
Shop, Shop, Shop
A visit to New York City isn't complete without a spot of retail therapy, and darling, let me tell you, this city doesn't disappoint.
First stop, Bergdorf Goodman, my absolute haven for all things fashion. It was like walking into a magical dream world β exquisite clothes, breathtaking window displays, and the most delightful staff. Of course, I had to treat myself to a little something special, and I ended up falling head-over-heels for the most exquisite sequined top in the softest, most delicate shade of pink imaginable. Perfect for a glamorous evening at the theatre, darling!
Next up, Bloomingdale's. It's always a joy to get lost in this sprawling department store, and this trip was no different. I found myself surrounded by mountains of beautiful accessories and handbags. Who can resist a stunning pink scarf or a glittery pink clutch? Definitely not this pink tutu princess!
And then, a delightful find: a little boutique on the Upper East Side called "The Tutu Shop". Now, this is a shop after my own heart! I spent a good hour in there trying on tutus, darling, let me tell you, it was practically a tutu festival! I eventually decided on a soft, shimmery tulle tutu in the most gorgeous lavender shade, perfectly fitting for my ballerina spirit.
From the Subway to the Stage
It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Blog NYC without a little insight into the heart of the city. And darling, let me tell you, there's no better way to explore New York City than via its iconic subway system.
Navigating the Metro is a whole other experience. Let me tell you, it's a real mix of characters! I mean, have you seen the outfits? Seriously, darling, some people think they're on a catwalk. You wouldn't believe the sheer variety of styles: punk rock meets glamour, goth chic, and even the occasional flamingo-themed fashion ensemble. I almost felt inspired to break out my pink tutu, but alas, I thought it would cause a little too much of a stir in the already-lively underground. π
I canβt resist squeezing in one final thought about this incredible city, New York, New York, what a place! There is no doubt about it β this place never ceases to amaze me, my dears! With its vibrant culture, boundless energy, and endless opportunities, I truly believe New York is the city for anyone with a bit of fire in their soul!
Oh, and one last little tidbit, darling. As you all know, I fund my travels with performances, so you can imagine my delight when I was invited to perform a special "Pink Tutu Waltz" for a fundraising event at the Metropolitan Opera. Talk about a dream come true! I absolutely loved it, and darling, I have a sneaky suspicion that my pink tutu might just be responsible for a new surge of interest in all things ballet. How wonderful would it be if every single person out there would join the pink tutu revolution? It's time for everyone to unleash their inner ballerina, I say!
So there you have it, my darlings. Another whirlwind week in the fabulous city of New York. Stay tuned next Monday for another fab post. Until then, keep shining, and never stop dreaming of dancing in a pink tutu!
Love,
Emma π
