Pink Tutu Blog: NYC Adventures - Monday 2002-01-28 (Post #347)

Hello darlings! It's Monday morning in New York City, and let me tell you, this city never sleeps - or lets you forget that pink is the most magical colour in the world!

So, I'm back in my favourite city, the Big Apple, the place where dreams come true - and where every day feels like a fairy tale! My trip is thanks to a wonderful performance at the City Center - it was a gala performance of Giselle with the most stunning costumes and, oh my, the most dazzling dancing! Afterwards, I had the absolute joy of meeting some fabulous fashion bloggers, and we had a delightful time discussing all things pink, fabulous and tutus, of course!

I must say, finding the perfect pink tutu in New York City is like finding a needle in a haystack - or perhaps, a single pearl amongst a pile of sparkling diamonds! I have a mission to make every corner of New York twinkle with pink tutus. Don't judge me - it's all about spreading happiness and reminding the world that a bit of whimsy goes a long way.

Anyway, let's get back to my adventures.

Subway Style

The subway here in New York is just magical! It’s such a hive of activity and you really do get to see the most interesting characters. Everyone has their own story, and I’ve certainly seen a few eye-catching looks! From glamorous business ladies in their crisp power suits to street artists decked out in every colour of the rainbow, this city has it all! Of course, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Blog post without mentioning the tutus I spot - even in the depths of the underground, I'm constantly on the lookout!

Today's sartorial highlight on the subway was a stunning woman in a cobalt blue dress paired with a stunning silver belt - the sort that screams “I'm on my way to conquer the world.” The best bit was, she was sporting a bold, fuchsia pink tote bag, the perfect accessory to her fabulous outfit!

Speaking of outfits, I can’t resist showing off a few of my own.

Fashion Forward

You guys already know I love to shop! It's just something I have to do whenever I visit a new place - finding those special pieces to remind me of my adventures. This time, I ventured into SoHo to explore the hidden gems that this part of town has to offer.

My first stop was a delightful little vintage shop tucked away down a cobbled street, which led me to a stunning, cherry blossom pink velvet coat. Oh my, it was everything I dreamed of! The cut was beautiful - perfectly tailored - and the material felt soft and luxurious against my skin. I knew I had to take it home!

Next up was a beautiful little boutique where I found a charming silk scarf with a delicate floral print in pink and white hues. It was a real treasure! It has that classic, timeless feel that I adore. It’s the perfect piece for adding a touch of elegance to any outfit.

My afternoon concluded with a truly delicious afternoon tea in a charming tea room in Greenwich Village - and, of course, a touch of retail therapy afterwards, naturally. A vintage book store called “The Wandering Page,” held a beautifully embroidered pink bookbag. I had to grab that. Who knows when I’d be graced with a perfect vintage bag like that? It was just waiting to carry my dreams.

Dance, Dance, Dance!

Of course, I couldn’t come to New York without visiting some of the fantastic ballet performances. You know I’m a complete balletomane, always ready to be transported by the beauty and grace of the dancers.

This week, I'm seeing “Swan Lake,” by the American Ballet Theatre at the Metropolitan Opera House! The sheer scale of the theater was truly breathtaking! The opulent decor was absolutely spectacular, the music was heavenly, and the performance itself? Well, let’s just say that I was left completely speechless, transported to another world for those glorious few hours! I can’t wait to share my review of it with you all!

Let’s Discuss!

I'm always eager to hear from you lovely readers, so leave a comment and let me know what you think! Are you planning a trip to New York? Tell me all about it! And, do you think it's possible to convince everyone to wear a pink tutu? Share your thoughts, my dear fashionistas!

I can't wait to share more of my adventures with you next week, from the latest ballet shows to fashion finds, I’ll be right here with you, embracing every pink-tastic moment. Remember, don’t be afraid to embrace your inner sparkle - and most importantly, don't forget to wear your tutu!

With love and lots of pink glitter,

P.S. If you haven’t heard, The Bolshoi Theatre has some exciting news. They’re releasing a new film version of Swan Lake, and it’s premiering on the 28th of January! That's today! I'll be adding it to my list of "must-see" movies - I can't wait!

Do you have a favourite ballet? I’m always looking for suggestions. Do let me know!
