#PinkTutuBlogNYC: New York City Sparkle! (Post #354)
Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind week in the Big Apple and just bursting to tell you all about it! This week's post marks a rather special milestone for yours truly, it's post #354 for the #PinkTutuBlogNYC! That means 354 weeks of sharing my love for the city that never sleeps, pink tutus, and everything in between! Can you believe it? ๐
This week I really embraced my inner-New Yorker and got lost in the streets, indulged in some amazing Broadway shows, and most importantly, wore a fabulous pink tutu to every single one! Oh, the joys of living out your ultimate ballet-inspired dreams! ๐ฉฐ
Before we dive into my NYC adventures, I'd love to tell you all about this past week's highlight! It was simply divine! Remember how I said that I fund my travels by performing in local ballet companies? Well, this week, drumroll please, I was chosen to dance in the most amazing performance! It was at the prestigious New York City Ballet. The audience was utterly captivated and it felt incredible to share my passion with such a refined, knowledgeable group. I must say, performing in a New York City ballet studio was the icing on the cake!
It truly felt like all those hours of practice in Derbyshire had paid off. This was what Iโd dreamed of ever since I could remember, dancing in the heart of the dance world. As I finished the performance, I couldn't stop beaming, knowing that I'd reached another milestone on my ballet journey. And the best part? My pink tutu sparkled on stage under the stage lights like a thousand stars! It truly was magical. โจ
Now, onto my whirlwind New York City experience! This trip, I decided to go old school and explore New York City's public transportation system - the mighty metro! A total PinkTutuBabe in a pink tutu and her sparkly bag, travelling on the underground! It's honestly a thrilling way to navigate this incredible city! Let's just say, navigating the metro during peak hour with my tutu on, got some rather curious glances from fellow commuters, but let's face it, who doesn't love a bit of extra flair?! ๐ It was a truly unforgettable way to experience the city!
I also took the time to see some iconic shows in the Theatre District. The shows I saw were simply phenomenal! The energy and talent of the cast members just blew me away, and I swear, there wasn't a single soul in the entire audience who didn't burst into applause after the curtains fell.
Oh! I almost forgot to mention that I had the most fabulous PinkTutuGirl outing this week, meeting my friend Sarah from college! She flew down from Connecticut to celebrate a milestone (the start of her new job in a fantastic publishing house - what an exciting time!) and of course, we had to find a fantastic Broadway show to enjoy together. This time, we saw a brilliant modern musical with stunning set design and beautiful costumes. (Did I mention the amazing pink tulle backdrop they had for one scene? My heart practically leapt out of my chest! My own personal ode to the wonders of pink tutu life, it really did! ๐ฅฐ)
After the show, Sarah and I explored the amazing boutiques on the Upper East Side! Did I find the perfect pink satin tote bag? Of course! ๐๏ธ This one comes in handy for all the PinkTutu adventures and is perfectly oversized for carrying my shoes for shows, all those magazines I picked up this week, and oh how I love it, that extra large ballet book I just had to pick up on a whim! It matches my tutu perfectly and is guaranteed to bring the city's sidewalks to life! ๐คฉ
New York City is truly a playground for a ballerina with a love for all things pink and fluffy! It's a city where dreams take flight, tutus reign supreme, and style is king! ๐
You all know I love finding beautiful, new places and this time was no exception. This week, I found a beautiful coffee shop tucked away on a quiet corner in the heart of Greenwich Village. It had the most adorable floral wallpaper and the sweetest vintage furniture. What was really special, they also had the most amazing homemade raspberry and white chocolate muffins! I had to have one for lunch โ truly, the ultimate sugar rush to power me through my exploration of the city. You betcha I bought a box of those amazing muffins for my Mum. ๐
I have to say, as much as I love experiencing the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple, there's no place quite like my hometown of Derbyshire! Thereโs a charm to a quiet Derbyshire village with its rolling hills and charming pubs that really draws me back, although I am a huge fan of Derbyshire countryside in my fluffy, pink tutu and sparkly ballerinas!
As my trip comes to an end, and I pack away my trusty pink tutu (with a promise to unpack it for more fun next week!), I know one thing for sure: this is just the beginning of many more New York City adventures.
So stay tuned for next week's post! I can already see those adorable pink tutu dresses that caught my eye in a vintage shop in Brooklyn; theyโre just begging to be worn and to star in next weekโs post. ๐ I canโt wait!
And donโt forget, my darlings, embrace the pink tutu life, wherever you may be! The world needs more sparkle and pink.
Until next time, Emma ๐
