Pink Tutu Blog NYC - Post #394: A Dashing December in the Big Apple 🩰✨

Hello, my dearest tutu-loving friends! πŸŽ€ It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, back from a whirlwind week in the glittering heart of New York City. As the snow softly blankets the cityscape, I'm cosy in my little flat in Greenwich Village, swirling in my thoughts (and my tutu, of course!), reminiscing about the magical moments that unfolded this past week. It's Christmas week in New York City, and believe me, this town has been transformed into a shimmering wonderland!

This week's adventures started with a splash of pink at a stunning new boutique on Bleecker Street called 'Frou Frou & Feathers.' My darling, their display was practically calling my name! The pinkest silk scarves, fluffy faux fur stoles, and delicate embroidered clutches practically begged me to buy them all. I held strong – for now – but promised myself a return trip for a little festive indulgence.

Then, onto the ultimate New York City experience - a journey through the subway! Oh, the charm! A swirling kaleidoscope of characters, bustling activity, and a million different stories. This time, my favourite pink tutu went for a spin at the iconic Grand Central Station. There's something utterly romantic about standing amidst that beautiful art deco architecture, watching the trains come and go. It just felt so quintessential New York City.

Next on the agenda was an evening performance at the New York City Ballet. The magic was simply intoxicating! It was a choreographed delight, set to the melodies of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. Every movement, every pirouette, every arabesque was so beautifully executed. The performance felt like a ballet fairy tale – even the Christmas trees around Lincoln Center were glistening with fairy lights!

My days have been full of adventures. I popped into a charming vintage bookstore in the West Village, discovering a little paperback treasure called 'The Art of the Tutu,' a book all about the evolution of ballet's most iconic costume! It made my little pink tutu heart sing. I've been exploring the festive markets in Central Park, sampling warming cups of mulled cider and nibbling on artisanal gingerbread cookies. Every street corner here in the Big Apple is simply brimming with festive spirit, making it hard not to fall in love with this magical season!

Now, onto my most cherished passion – the pursuit of all things pink and tutu-related! This week's mission has been to track down the elusive, oh-so-rare 'Pink Tutu Parlour,' a charming vintage tea salon rumoured to be tucked away somewhere in the East Village. Legend has it they offer a delectable selection of tea cakes served on exquisite pink porcelain, a perfect little haven for a tutu-clad lady to enjoy a spot of afternoon tea. I’m determined to find this hidden gem, so if you happen to be a seasoned New York City explorer, please share your wisdom!

As the week concludes, a hint of bittersweetness sets in, as my adventures in this wondrous city will be coming to a close soon. It’s time to return to Derbyshire, England, my sweet, home county. However, before bidding adieu, I must confess, the yearning for a pink tutu moment in this Christmas wonderland is burning bright within me. This is, after all, New York City, where the dreams are big, the spirit is bold, and the possibilities are endless.

So, my dearest friends, as the festive lights twinkle, and the winter air dances, I raise a glass of bubbly, or a cup of hot cocoa, to a little pink tutu magic that whispers through the streets of this incredible city. Until next week, keep those tutus twirling, and always remember, darling, anything is possible with a sprinkle of pink! βœ¨πŸŽ€
