It’s Monday, and that means another week in dazzling New York City! This week's adventure? A perfect blend of ballet, Broadway, and a whole lotta shopping - just how I like it!
Oh, before we begin, just a quick reminder - you know what I love? PINK TUTUS! So, as always, I’m strutting my stuff in my signature hot pink tulle. It's such a delight to see the smiles and surprised stares as I twirl through the streets of the Big Apple! 💖
My Monday Ballet Bliss
Every week starts with ballet class, right? I simply can't resist the magical energy of the city's ballet studios, and this week, it was the renowned American Ballet Theatre Studio! I love that place! There's something exhilarating about stretching and leaping amidst such seasoned talent, with the city’s iconic skyline framing every pirouette. And let's face it, dancing in New York is always a good idea!
Tuesday's Tutu Twirls: On to Broadway!
Now, let's talk Broadway! The bright lights, the infectious energy, the sheer spectacle… It's pure magic, and nothing can quite compare! On Tuesday, I finally caught “Wicked” – yes, I know, it's a classic, but I couldn’t resist the green-tinged whimsy. I mean, who wouldn't want to go to a theatre dressed in green? Especially if you can add a hint of pink. 😜 (Think vibrant, green tulle with pink lace trims).
I have to confess, the entire production was a breathtaking delight! The music, the costumes, the story – it all took me away to another world. It was utterly enchanting. I have a feeling this isn't the last time I'll be rocking a pink tutu at a Broadway show!
Wednesday Wonderland: Bloomingdale's Bound
The day after a Broadway extravaganza is always a good excuse for some serious shopping therapy! And where else but at Bloomingdale's? They have the most amazing array of designer duds! I picked up a fantastic blush pink cashmere cardigan - perfectly snuggly for New York's fickle spring weather!
I always love wandering through their makeup counters too – trying on new shades and concoctions. You see, a pink tutu look is all about complementing those delightful hues with the perfect shades. It’s an art! Just as well I have my trusted makeup guru in New York who keeps my pink-toned make-up supplies topped up for me.
Thursday Theatre Treasures: The Cutting Edge of the Ballet World
Thursdays are for experimental ballet. You know me – I adore trying something new! I found myself at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater – quite possibly one of the most talented companies in the world! Their Thursday night performance was mind-blowingly good – think dynamic choreography and jaw-dropping athleticism. They even had a tutu scene, so you know I had my tutu on for the whole evening. 😜
What makes this company truly special? It’s the passion! It leaps right out of the stage! It truly encapsulates what makes New York City so exciting – the bold and vibrant spirit. You feel it with every leap, every turn, every dramatic pose.
Friday Fiesta: A Ballet Masterclass at the Juilliard School
Friday was for ballet immersion! The Juilliard School - oh, what a privilege to witness these future stars in the making. I snuck into a masterclass with some of their students, observing, learning, and even a little pirouette practice myself. It's so encouraging to see the next generation of dancers, brimming with energy and artistry. I can’t wait to see what incredible talent this prestigious school continues to produce.
Saturday Soirée: Shopping, Style, & So Much Pink!
Saturday meant exploring new corners of New York – all those hidden gems that make this city so intriguing! I must say, finding an adorable, antique jewellery shop in the Village – you know, the kind with those sparkly vintage baubles – filled me with pure delight. My pink tutu went fabulously with that whole vintage look – imagine some gorgeous earrings with chunky pink gemstones. Simply dazzling!
And naturally, my shopping excursions always conclude with a visit to the bakery on 8th Avenue for my favourite – the pink and white cupcakes! Oh, the sheer sweetness! What a perfect way to end a wonderful week!
Sunday Soul Searching: Reflecting on My NYC Adventures
Sunday, my favourite day of the week! This is when I catch up with my blog, sit back, relax, and simply appreciate all the amazing experiences I've had during my week in the City That Never Sleeps.
And as I write these very words, I’m reminded of how truly lucky I am. Being able to live out my passion, exploring this city, and sharing my adventures with you, is a dream come true.
