Pink Tutu Blog NYC #514: New York City Lights, Tutu-ful Delights! 🩰✨

Monday, April 11th, 2005

Good morning, lovelies! ☀️ It’s your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, Emma, reporting live from the heart of New York City! 🏙️ I've just finished my morning routine – a cheeky Starbucks run and a quick stop at my favourite ballet store to pick up some new pointe shoes. Oh, the joys of being a professional ballerina! 💖

But enough about me, let's dive into what made this past week so utterly wonderful. I’ve been feeling utterly inspired by the sheer energy of this city. It's like the world is on fast-forward, and everyone's rushing to catch up! Even my tutus seem to twirl a little faster in this vibrant metropolis. 😄

This past week has been filled with the most dazzling experiences. The most wonderful ballet performance of the season was “Swan Lake,” with a special guest ballerina who literally stole the show with her ethereal grace and powerful leaps. It was the kind of performance that left you breathless, not just from the breathtaking moves but also from the emotional rollercoaster it took you on. 💖

Oh, but before I get ahead of myself, let's rewind to my initial journey here in NYC! I arrived on Saturday and decided to jump right into the New York groove by taking the metro, which I must say is quite the experience. I couldn't help but think of the famous line from "The Greatest Showman", “The world’s a stage, and everybody has a part!” because everyone seems to be their own little performance artist, donning all sorts of crazy costumes, makeup, and even, of course, the occasional tutu! 😂

And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good metro ride in the Big Apple? The sheer amount of stories you hear on that train is just amazing! A woman with a parrot, a group of teenagers having a sing-along to some fabulous old 80s hits (the 80s music always gives me a good excuse to put my pink tutu back on!), a family trying to wrangle four toddlers - you name it, you’ll find it! Sometimes I wish I had a tiny video camera to film all the weird and wonderful characters I see, but then again, who wouldn’t be nervous in the company of a pink tutu-wearing girl filming everything?

Now, let’s talk about fashion – one of the main reasons I adore New York. The shops! Oh, the shops! There are literally rows and rows of gorgeous clothes. I managed to find this stunning pink, lacey blouse (which is going straight to the top of my tutu-worthy outfit list!) and the perfect new pink satin ballet slippers to go with my sparkly, lilac pink tutu for my next performance (shh…don’t tell anyone what I’m wearing – it’s a secret!).

Honestly, finding clothes in New York is like a treasure hunt, with so many cute boutiques, designer outlets, and independent shops to explore! You just have to know where to look. But that’s half the fun, right? And besides, after a tiring day of hunting for fabulous fashion, what could be better than hopping back onto the metro and watching the world go by as you zoom towards your next adventure? (Except maybe a quick detour to get myself a huge milkshake, but hey, gotta keep the energy up, right?). 😉

On Sunday, I felt like an explorer as I journeyed around the Upper West Side, visiting the infamous Central Park, of course. It felt surreal to be standing in a place I had only ever seen on television or in films. It’s absolutely stunning – all that green amidst the urban jungle, with families enjoying picnics, joggers breathing in the fresh air, and the sound of laughter floating on the breeze. What more could a ballerina ask for? 🌳

My feet are starting to feel a bit weary now after a whole weekend of adventures and shopping! So, I’m calling it a day for this blog post and will leave you with some more travel tips and some amazing ballet performance stories to come in the future. And don't forget to join me again next Monday, same time, same place, for another delightful dose of the Pink Tutu blog.

See you next week, and happy dancing! 💃 💖

Stay lovely and wear a pink tutu! 😜✨

Love, Emma

Here are some ideas for your Monday outfits. Feel free to take inspiration from my latest outfit on my blog – don’t forget, everything goes better with a pink tutu! 🩰🌸

  • Pink and White Combo: This combination is as classic as they come, and it's a true showstopper when paired with a pink tutu. For a polished look, opt for a fitted white blouse, a tailored pink skirt, and a statement pair of ballet flats.
  • Floral Flirty: Embrace spring with a stunning floral-print dress, paired with a cute, ruffled pink tutu. Finish off with sandals and a matching pink headband for a truly elegant look.
  • Monochrome Majesty: Choose one colour - black, white, red, or blue - and create an entirely monochrome outfit. For instance, pair a crisp black pencil skirt with a sleek white shirt, topped off with a dazzling black tulle tutu for an alluring look.

Have fun styling your own tutu outfits, darlings! 😊
