Pink Tutu Blog NYC - Post #621: New York, New York! (And a Tutu Too!)

Monday, 30th April 2007

Hello, lovelies! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, reporting live from the Big Apple! It feels so good to be back in this amazing city, buzzing with life, fashion, and – of course – some fabulous dance!

As you know, I fund my globetrotting by dancing, and this trip's no different. Last week, I was back in Derbyshire, England, performing a little solo piece for the local theatre – it went down a storm, I can tell you! There's something really special about sharing the joy of dance with an audience. I think that's what I love most about it; the feeling of connecting with others through movement and music.

But this week, I'm back in my favourite city – New York City! You just can't beat the energy here, the way everyone is just doing things, rushing to appointments, or maybe just taking in the sunshine and the city sights.

Of course, one of my main reasons for being here is the chance to see some incredible shows. Did you know today's the 30th April, which is International Dance Day? How fitting, eh? To celebrate, I'm off to the City Center to watch American Ballet Theatre’s opening night of their season. It’s always a thrill to see their incredible dancers. Can you imagine a world without ballet? I can’t!

Fashion & Fun

Speaking of dancing, you just HAVE to check out the new Dancewear Emporium on Broadway! It's like a wonderland of sparkly fabrics and elegant leotards – they even had the most amazing collection of tutus. Now, I love a good tutu as much as the next ballerina, but I must say, I think I need a little break from the pink ones! Don’t worry, I’ll be sporting my signature pink all over my outfit (a pale pink cashmere cardigan over a coral silk dress, and my favourite pink high-top Converse - oh and a pink tote bag too, of course!)

Now, I need to hop on the metro (because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love the New York metro!) and head down to Soho for a little afternoon of shopping. I'm on the hunt for a new statement piece - maybe a dazzling necklace for a grand debut this evening, or a beautiful pair of vintage heels. You never know what treasures you’ll find in Soho.

A Tutu for Every Occasion

This city truly inspires me, and I'm already jotting down some new ideas for my own pieces. Imagine, a tutu for every occasion – one for a romantic evening at the theatre, another for a chic dinner party, or even a super fun one for an outdoor performance in Central Park! I'm picturing sparkly tulle and satin, shimmering embellishments, and flowing silk… and of course, every one in the most delightful shade of pink imaginable!

After all, I'm on a mission to spread the pink tutu gospel! Every woman should feel like a princess, right? Why not embrace the twirl, the fun, the freedom of a little bit of sparkle?

I'll be sure to share photos of my fabulous evening outfits later, and tell you all about the performance, because you know I just have to give you all the juicy details. And don’t forget to check out my website, www.pink-tutu.com, for all the latest tutu news and tips on finding the perfect pink tutu for your own adventures!

Catch you all next Monday for another peek into my fabulous life!

Sending you all a big hug and a twirl,

Emma xx

P.S. Don’t forget, pink is the new black. And, of course, every day is a great day to wear a pink tutu!
