Helloooo darlings! It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm back in my favourite city on Earth - New York City! I know, I know, I'm only here for a whirlwind trip this time, but I'm squeezing in all the excitement I can manage. You see, I'm a ballet girl at heart, and New York, for me, is simply magical! It's a place where dance, fashion, and sheer joy seem to mix in the air like the sweet smell of cotton candy.
And of course, no trip to the Big Apple is complete without a pink tutu! I may be from Derbyshire, England, where we love a good cuppa and a cheeky chinwag, but when I'm in New York, I channel my inner ballerina - and that means a twirly, fluffy, sparkling tutu, always in my favourite shade, pink.
It's my little secret mission, you see. To get every single person on this planet to embrace the joy and elegance of a pink tutu. It might seem a bit crazy, but when you see the smiles on people's faces when I pirouette down the street, you know I'm spreading sunshine!
Post #840: A Tutu Tale in the City that Never Sleeps
This week's adventure has already been bursting with tutu-rific moments! I just landed in New York a couple of days ago, and I'm already feeling like I've been transported to another world. The city feels electric, the air fizzes with possibilities, and everyone seems to have this infectious energy!
I started my New York escapade with a visit to The Met, of course. No self-respecting ballerina can resist a good dose of art! Today, it was all about the Costume Institute Exhibition and let me tell you, the costumes were truly a sight to behold. So much colour, creativity, and intricate detail, they were like works of art that could dance and sing!
And speaking of dancing, I simply had to indulge in a bit of ballet street-style shopping at Bloomingdale's! Their ballet wear section was simply heavenly. They had everything from classic leotards in the most exquisite shades of pink (naturally!), to trendy leggings, sassy tutus, and even sparkly ballet flats for that extra touch of glitz.
As I shimmied and twirled, choosing the perfect ballet top, a little girl in a gorgeous red tutu giggled at me, and I swear, her eyes sparkled like a disco ball! In that moment, I knew my mission to spread the tutu love was definitely on the right track!
Tonight, the city's calling me to the theatre! I'm going to be catching a performance at the legendary Lincoln Center. Oh, the excitement! It's been ages since I last enjoyed a good ballet performance in a breathtaking theatre.
And let me tell you, New York City is teeming with amazing ballet companies. Right now, the New York City Ballet is in season, and if I'm lucky, maybe I'll snag tickets to one of their fabulous shows. Their performances are simply magical, with incredible dancers showcasing incredible talent.
Oh, and let me not forget the thrill of the subway! The New York subway is a true adventure in itself. The constant movement, the sounds of the city echoing through the tunnels, it's all a part of the magic. I have to admit, even with my tulle twirling, navigating the subway can be a bit of a challenge! But honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
I love that I can step onto a train in a glamorous outfit, ready to take on the city, then step off into the vibrant bustle of New York, surrounded by fashion, creativity, and dreams. It's truly inspiring, and I can't help but be swept away by it all!
And now, for a little peek at my New York itinerary...
- Thursday: Broadway Bonanza! I've scored tickets to see "Wicked"! Oh my, it's the most fantastical and colourful musical with dazzling costumes and even a beautiful rendition of "The Wizard and I" performed in the most magical way!
- Friday: A Bite of Brooklyn. I'm planning a day trip to Brooklyn! I hear it's brimming with independent boutiques, art galleries, and trendy cafes. I've got my eye on a vintage pink tutu shop I've found online, so fingers crossed I can find the perfect treasure for my tutu collection.
- Saturday: Museums, Museums, Everywhere! A ballerina must indulge in the beauty of art! The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), The Guggenheim Museum, and of course, The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), are all calling my name.
- Sunday: Tutuing with the Stars. I'm hoping to snag tickets to one of those amazing dance competitions they have in the city. Imagine, watching professional dancers compete in a grand ballroom! The glamour! The artistry! It's simply breathtaking.
