Hello lovelies!
Welcome back to another fabulous week on Pink Tutu Blog NYC! It feels like just yesterday I was taking in the sights and sounds of Edinburgh Fringe, but now here I am, back in the heart of New York City, tutu twirling with excitement for what this week holds!
Oh, how I adore this city! The energy here is intoxicating! Iām pretty sure it's just the sheer number of inspiring, stylish individuals going about their day. And what better way to soak it all in than from the vantage point of the subway?
Yes, my darlings, I'm back on the Metro, gliding beneath the city streets in my trusty pink tutu (a new one this time - a beautiful blush silk, very princessy!), surrounded by the cacophony of everyday life - the rhythm of the wheels, the hum of chatter, the delightful mix of scents... just exhilarating!
Catching Up on The New York Ballet Scene
Last week was a whirlwind of beautiful ballet performances! I saw the most captivating performance of Giselle, a ballet I had dreamt of seeing in this iconic city, at the Metropolitan Opera House. I gasped at the elegance and sheer power of the dancing. A breathtaking masterpiece that took my breath away and left me floating on cloud nine for the entire journey home!
As you know, dancing is the very core of my being. So you can imagine how delighted I was to be treated to an absolutely incredible workshop with the legendary Mikhail Baryshnikov. I wonāt pretend to know what it takes to be a master like him, but even the chance to dance with a maestro such as Baryshnikov was truly inspiring, and the chance to pick his brain on performance and life left me with such valuable advice! It was just extraordinary!
Speaking of performance, my last engagement, a beautiful charity performance at the Lincoln Center, left me with such a sense of satisfaction. We were supporting a fantastic cause close to my heart, raising awareness for women's literacy programs in New York. And of course, a donation in the form of a pink tutu to the auction brought the whole evening to a lovely climax!
On a Fashion Spree - Shopping for the Soul!
There is simply no other city in the world where shopping feels as exhilarating as New York! This city truly caters to all sartorial desires, whether itās the classic chic of Bergdorf Goodman or the edgier fashion finds in the heart of Soho. But honestly, for me, nothing beats the unique treasures I unearth in the endless labyrinth of vintage boutiques lining the Lower East Side.
A gorgeous beaded flapper dress that I found on a quiet corner - I canāt wait to wear it out for an evening in the city! And imagine my glee when I found the perfect tutu - a shimmering silver number - at a little shop nestled among a cobblestone lane. The moment I saw it, I knew it was meant to be mine. Iām so excited to twirl it around the city streets!
And of course, my recent trips wouldn't be complete without a visit to Tiffany's. I am, after all, a huge fan of that elegant iconic turquoise box! While I have yet to purchase anything ā though my eyes were on a pair of sparkly pink earrings that nearly stole my heart! Perhaps I should treat myself on a good ballet performance!
Finding my Pink Inspiration on Broadway
Every performance I see on Broadway reminds me of the immense talent and passion woven into this beautiful city. The stage is like magic, and the city is full of people who share this passion, creating moments that sparkle and shine brighter than a million stars. And the fashion! I just have to add, the fashion on Broadway, particularly during intermission, is a spectacular showcase of the most incredible statement outfits! The confidence, the daring, and the endless creativity of these womenā¦ Oh my!
Speaking of statement outfits, last night I saw āGreaseā! Those sparkly pink dresses! Talk about iconic pink! They simply demanded that I share this with my fellow pink enthusiasts out there. What a fab show it was! Did I mention thereās even a touch of pink in Sandy's outfit during her transformation? The message of true love shining through with a dash of pink glitter! What more could a pink loving ballerina girl like me ask for?
Discovering Hidden Gems
This week has also been a beautiful discovery of little hidden pockets of beauty. The High Line Park is one of them. It's such a delightful, verdant sanctuary right in the middle of the city, offering an escape from the concrete jungle. Strolling along the path, taking in the sights of the city and its quirky charmā¦ you just never know what to expect around the next bend.
I did stumble upon the most adorable flower shop while enjoying a leisurely picnic lunch at Bryant Park. Its colourful blooms seemed to sing a cheerful symphony in the middle of the urban hustle. I couldnāt resist snapping a few pictures - you have to see them, my darlings! They will inspire you. I also bought a magnificent bouquet of bright pink carnations as a sweet gift to myself! I truly believe that pink just brings happiness to everyone around it, donāt you?
And speaking of happy, it seems New York City agrees. Even with all the energy and movement, the city still possesses a sense of magic. It seems like you just never know what adventure will unfold next! But one thing is for certain - with a pink tutu by my side and my favourite city shoes on my feet, I'm ready for anything!
The Big Pink Question... What Should I Wear on My Date Night with The City Tonight?
So what's next, you ask? Well, my loves, this evening Iām heading out on a romantic rendezvous with the city - a private tour of the Empire State Building with a stunning panoramic view of the lights of Manhattan at night! Can you imagine?!
However, my biggest dilemma right now? What to wear! I am torn between my gorgeous cherry red chiffon dress and my playful, glittery pink tutu. I know, I know, a classic little black dress is always a safe bet, but where's the fun in that, eh?
I'm craving that special something - that pop of colour that screams "I'm ready for anything New York!" Maybe Iāll give my followers a peek into my wardrobe with a little "outfit choice" poll! You know what, I just think a pink tutu makes a powerful statement in any city, right? Especially this city.
Oh, one more thing! My dearest lovelies, if you are visiting New York City, you HAVE to join me in wearing a pink tutu - or even just a dash of pink. Remember, there are endless possibilities when it comes to expressing yourself through fashion, and there is something liberating and exhilarating about wearing a tutu - I feel like it makes you stand out, feel confident and embrace all the fun in the world! And for the record, it is possible to wear it stylishly, without looking silly or childish. The trick is to keep it elegant, make it a statement and keep that girly charm!
This weekās tip: Don't forget your twirl. That's how you show you own the city. And as always, make it pink. I believe that everyone can find a shade of pink that they love! It's such a versatile colour and brings out a bit of magic and happiness in everyone!
