Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post 925 – Dancing in the Big Apple! 🩰🍎

Hey lovelies! πŸ‘‹

It's Emma, back from the Big Apple, where I’ve been twirling around and having the best time, like, ever! As you know, I'm a total NYC fanatic - the city never sleeps, just like me when I’m in a full-on spin! πŸ’… And you guys know that for me, pink tutus, ballets and beautiful clothes are what it's all about. So, of course, this week's post is all about the magic of my pink tutu escapades in the greatest city on earth.

This past Monday was the most amazing start to the week. After a scrumptious breakfast of bagels and a mountain of cream cheese (with extra strawberry jam of course!) I ventured out, bright and early, for a fabulous ballet class in Midtown Manhattan. I’d managed to nab a class right by Times Square, so I took a photo outside the bright and iconic lit-up theatre – gotta love those billboards, don’t you? ✨ It was truly one of the most gorgeous studios I've ever seen – mirrored walls, beautiful wooden floors and, of course, stunning dancers. Feeling empowered by my fellow classmates and the vibrant energy of New York, I went on to conquer a tough plie combination, and, I must say, I nailed it! πŸ’ͺ

Later that day, after a delightful and very girlie afternoon browsing the shops in Bloomingdales (gotta stay on top of the latest trends!), I spent an evening in the luxurious ambiance of a classical ballet performance at Lincoln Center. A masterpiece in five acts! It had everything from daring leaps and twirls, to the most breathtaking costumes – all with the incredible backdrop of the most glorious scenery imaginable! I found myself caught up in the world of graceful dance, captivated by every movement and each moment. Ballet is simply an incredible art form.

But enough about ballet - though I will admit I can’t get it out of my head right now - I want to talk about this fabulous city that makes me feel like I could just dance in the street. πŸ’ƒ The energy in the streets is electric and the pace is captivating! Of course, a trip to New York is simply not complete without hopping onto the iconic yellow subway – those carriages are like my own personal backstage area! Each time I journey through the tunnels beneath this magical city, I take in all the colourful displays and artwork on the platform. Just one of those quintessential things you've got to see and experience. And I mean, every single journey is an adventure - never quite sure who you will encounter along the way, so it’s definitely kept me on my toes (or more like on my pointe shoes! πŸ˜‚).

Speaking of adventure, my New York jaunt was definitely eventful this week! One of the coolest experiences happened at a dance street performance in Battery Park City – the sun was shining, the breeze was fresh, and I was in awe of the fantastic and energetic dance troupe I witnessed showcasing their incredible talent in front of hundreds of amazed spectators! And you can’t talk about New York without mentioning those delicious hot dogs, right? And those delis full of all sorts of gorgeous cakes – it was all too tempting! Oh my gosh! I might have, just maybe, gone slightly over board! 😜

Let me share a quick fashion update, because I know you all want to know what I’ve been rocking! Of course, every day I stepped out, my pink tutu, paired with the perfectly coordinated accessories, took centre stage. You can never go wrong with pink! πŸ’• After all, my motto is: if in doubt, go pink! So, if I'm feeling a little out of sorts, I just put on my favourite pink tutu and I know I will have the best day, regardless of the chaos going on around me. And I always make a point of picking up some stylish treasures to take home, because what is a trip to the city that never sleeps without a few souvenir goodies?! I am, after all, the queen of shopping! πŸ‘‘

I can’t go on without mentioning one very important aspect of my New York travels: those incredible theatrical shows! Of course, no visit is complete without a night at the theater and for me, I want to experience the best – you know, the shows you have to have seen. This week, I made my way to Broadway, and boy, I tell you, I felt a thrill running down my spine. The theatre was electric, with its historical presence and elegant atmosphere. My show? None other than Hamilton! 😱 Just incredible, you know! From the first beat to the last bow, I was hooked! I'll be honest: I probably teared up at a couple of moments! 🀫 You know, the emotions got the better of me, because I am such a hopeless romantic! It was an inspiring show with an unforgettable score that had my toes tapping from start to finish – just wait til you guys see me showing off those steps at our ballet class in Derbyshire, once I’m back home! πŸ₯°

And while New York was a dazzling whirlwind, nothing beats a homecoming, you know. Nothing beats coming back to the quiet hills of Derbyshire after a busy week in the Big Apple, and sharing all the adventures with my friends and family. I love that the community spirit is always a strong and familiar presence when I’m back. And of course, what I miss the most are my beautiful little nieces and nephews – their smiles always cheer me up when I get a little homesick – after all, it's never too early for ballet lessons! πŸ˜‰

Until next week my darlings, when I'll be back with another post from a different part of the world – my dancing journey never ends! But remember, always aim for that pink tutu power – whether you are a ballerina on stage, or just twirling around in your living room – it's all about finding joy and grace in our everyday lives.

Ciao! xoxo, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
