#PinkTutuBlogNYC Monday 2015-02-02: Dancing Through the Big Apple!

Welcome back to #PinkTutuBlogNYC, my lovelies! This week, I'm bringing you the latest and greatest from the dazzling city that never sleeps - New York City! As you know, I'm a firm believer that every day should be filled with a sprinkle of magic, and what better place to experience that than in the heart of the theatre world? This past week has been a whirlwind of tutus, tiaras, and the undeniable buzz of Broadway - oh, and I can't forget the amazing shops!

(This is post number 1026 on my #PinkTutuBlogNYC - and remember, I post every Monday over at www.pink-tutu.com!)

Now, I've got to be honest, this trip to New York was extra special. Not only did I have the opportunity to perform with the incredible 'New York Ballet', it just so happened to be the week of Valentine's Day! Can you believe it? My heart was soaring with excitement (and yes, perhaps a few butterflies, too) about spending Valentine's Day in the most romantic city in the world!

Let's talk tutus, darlings! You know I'm obsessed, and I simply can't travel anywhere without a whole selection in my luggage. This time, my collection was especially glamorous, and it seemed everyone was captivated by the sheer elegance of the pale pink tulle cascading down to my ankles. You should have seen the faces when I twirled out onto the stage in the Grand Central Station during my performance. Pure magic!

My performance was at the Lincoln Center, of course! Such a classic, beautiful venue and, thankfully, perfectly pink! Every ballerina dreams of dancing on that stage, and I was truly in my element. The energy of the audience, the beautiful music... It was exhilarating!

Of course, being in the Big Apple means hitting up all the must-see sights. From Times Square to the Statue of Liberty, I was truly swept away by the vibrant energy and architectural wonders that made New York so iconic. You know me - I can't resist a bit of Instagram worthy content in every corner, so there were endless pictures, a little selfie or two, and naturally, some twirling. You can see all my beautiful snaps at my @PinkTutuEmma Instagram.

My biggest discovery in New York City? It’s the metro! It may seem surprising, but I found it absolutely enchanting! The fast pace, the variety of people, the hustle and bustle - it was an unforgettable experience. Don't even get me started on the colorful posters lining the walls - it was like stepping into a theatre of the underground. (Maybe it's my theatre-obsessed heart, I don't know, but I love it!)

While New York is all about the glamorous and the grand, I also found myself exploring the quieter, hidden corners of the city. The cobbled streets of Greenwich Village, with their quaint shops and cosy cafes, held a charming sense of intimacy. My inner bookworm loved browsing the vintage bookshops and discovering new gems for my bookshelf. A cup of coffee from a little cafe whilst reading a vintage romance novel on a cobbled street? Well, that’s my perfect Saturday morning!

For you lovely readers who know my style, I simply had to take a trip to Fifth Avenue - what else! This mecca of fashion left me speechless with its glittering window displays and every shop I could ever imagine. From luxury brands to the most whimsical boutiques, it's a dream come true for a ballerina with a passion for all things pink. Of course, I couldn’t resist purchasing a few items. (Don't tell my bank balance, darling!) I picked up the most fabulous pair of fuchsia gloves, a shimmering pink satin scarf and the most beautiful beaded clutch, perfect for adding that extra touch of magic to every outfit! Oh, and did I mention the shoes? I bought three pairs!

Speaking of clothes shopping, New York is a haven for finding unique treasures! From Soho to the Lower East Side, I discovered so many hidden boutiques full of independent designers. They all seemed to understand my need for vibrant colours, whimsical fabrics and, naturally, an array of tutus in various shapes and shades of pink. They were a breath of fresh air from the typical mass-produced garments that seem to take over most cities these days.

To truly immerse myself in the vibrant culture of New York City, I ventured out to explore the street performances scattered throughout the city. From soulful singers crooning in Central Park to charismatic dancers breaking the floor in front of a coffee shop, I witnessed a constant eruption of artistic passion. I even spotted a ballerina dancing in front of a busker in a park and you know I had to have a twirl alongside her - and of course a snap on my Instagram.

New York was brimming with stories waiting to be told and experienced. My week was filled with countless moments that made my heart soar with happiness: seeing a street performer tap-dance in his custom-made bright red tutus, taking a twirl at a bus stop for a family who asked if I'd 'teach them' how to spin, witnessing a young ballerina in a pink tutu as she auditioned for a spot in a broadway show... these moments filled me with so much hope and excitement.

For every ballerina out there, dreaming of stepping into the shoes of their heroes, there's a piece of magic waiting for you in New York City. It truly is the city that never sleeps, a place where dreams are nurtured, and talent blooms with dazzling light.

Now, I have a challenge for you, darlings! This week, I challenge you to add a touch of pink to your lives. Even if it's just a little pink lipstick or a pink flower in your hair, let your inner ballerina shine! Tell me all about your #pinktutuweek adventures on my Instagram.

Until next week, my lovelies! Sending you all my love,

Emma, xoxo
