Pink Tutu Blog NYC - Post #1045 - Monday 15th June 2015
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, back with another installment from the dazzling metropolis that is New York City!
The Big Apple really does live up to its name, it's a giant, delicious, juicy apple filled to the brim with excitement, fashion, and of course, ballet! I've been exploring the city from every angle imaginable, whether it's hopping on the iconic yellow subway, zipping past Times Square in a flurry of bright lights and billboards, or gracefully gliding through Central Park, I'm soaking it all up.
This week's blog post is all about…you guessed it! Ballet, naturally! But not just any ballet, I'm talking the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center! Can you believe I finally made it to this iconic ballet company?! I practically skipped with joy all the way there. The sheer majesty of the David H. Koch Theater, the luxurious crimson velvet seats, and the electrifying buzz of the crowd all added up to one unforgettable evening.
This week's performance featured George Balanchine's "Agon" and "Symphony in C" along with a brand new work called "The Theme," all choreographed by the legendary Jerome Robbins. You guys, I was absolutely captivated!
"Agon" was such a striking ballet, the intricate choreography, the dramatic costumes, it was a masterpiece of movement. The athleticism and grace of the dancers were phenomenal, each step so controlled, so precise, it was truly mesmerizing.
Next up, "Symphony in C" - a breathtaking ballet that flowed like a river of music, its beauty cascading across the stage. The joyous lightness, the perfect synergy between the music and movement, it was just pure joy to witness.
But the highlight of the evening for me was "The Theme," Jerome Robbins' brand new creation. This piece was fresh, edgy, and contemporary, showcasing the versatility and talent of these phenomenal dancers. It's a perfect blend of storytelling, wit, and artistry that will definitely stick with me for a long time.
Speaking of sticking with me, did I mention I found the most amazing pink tutu while I was here?! It's a full-length tulle dream in the most delicate shade of pink, it practically sparkles with every step! I just had to have it. Imagine me twirling through the streets of NYC, spreading the pink tutu love with each spin!
I mean, isn't it just amazing to experience all these beautiful things, these magical performances and see how deeply ballet is embedded in the city's very soul? The sheer energy of this city, the ambition, the artistic pulse, all come together to create this breathtaking atmosphere that simply inspires!
It makes me want to encourage everyone, everywhere, to try a pink tutu on! It might sound silly, but I truly believe that every person deserves a moment of joy, a moment of expressing themselves freely, and that pink tutu moment could be the start of it all.
But my adventures didn't end with ballet! I couldn't resist indulging in some shopping therapy in the vibrant Meatpacking District, exploring the cool boutiques and art galleries. My pink-loving heart skipped a beat when I discovered a charming little shop selling all things vintage and handmade - imagine, a pink tutu made entirely from recycled fabric! Talk about a conversation starter! I was absolutely thrilled and had to bring home a sweet little pink floral beret, the perfect accessory to my already burgeoning pink tutu collection!
Oh, and how could I forget to mention the food? I sampled my way through a delectable range of New York delicacies. Think perfectly juicy slices of New York-style pizza with all the cheesy, gooey goodness you could ask for, a slice of classic cheesecake with the richest, creamiest filling you've ever experienced, and yes, even the ubiquitous pretzel - the chewy, salted perfection that makes any stroll around the city even more delicious.
After all this fabulous food and fun, it was time to catch my breath and reflect on my journey in New York City. Sitting on a bench in Central Park, the setting sun casting a golden glow over the iconic skyline, I was just completely smitten with this incredible city.
This journey is a constant reminder to embrace every moment, to seize every opportunity, and to always strive to make my dreams come true. Just like the beautiful ballerinas at the New York City Ballet who so effortlessly and beautifully express themselves through dance, I too am expressing myself through my journey here, through my love for ballet and pink tutus, and my passion for exploring and sharing the world's beauty.
Stay tuned for my next blog post, darlings, I've got another amazing adventure up my sleeve!
Until then, keep twirling, keep dreaming, and most importantly, keep spreading the pink tutu love!
Much love, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
