Good morning, lovelies!
The Big Apple is calling! 🍎 I'm back in the heart of NYC for another whirlwind week of dance, fashion and oh-so-much fun. I feel like a little ballerina bunny hopped straight out of a storybook and into the vibrant streets of Manhattan!
Last week, I had a simply fab time performing with the Derbyshire Ballet Company at a charity gala, showcasing our dazzling new "Firebird" piece. You wouldn't believe the applause! It gave me all the feels, and it was a lovely way to raise money for the arts. My heart truly belongs to dance! 💖
Now, it's time to share the New York magic with you all. This week's theme: "New York, New York – Tutu and All!". It's gonna be a delightful dance through the city's most stylish spots. Think pink tutus, twirling in the iconic streets, fabulous Broadway shows, and of course, the ultimate treat - a shopping spree at Bergdorf Goodman! Let's go!
First Stop: Subway Symphony
As always, my favourite mode of transportation here is the trusty New York Metro. It's like a mini ballet of its own! It's fast, it's cheap, and it's full of interesting characters - kind of like my own little backstage world!
My latest metro mission was to find a "must-have" pink tutu for a certain upcoming event - and trust me, it was no ordinary tutu! Imagine a delicate tulle confection in the most exquisite shade of pastel pink, adorned with sparkly beads and a dash of shimmery silver embroidery... Let's just say it's got the perfect amount of sparkle to bring out the star quality in any dancer, and even better - it made a fabulous statement while boarding the train. 😉
New York, New York! And All That Jazz
You can't talk about New York without mentioning the magic of Broadway! And oh boy, what a show we saw this weekend. I had the most glorious time watching "Chicago" at the Ambassador Theatre. It was captivating from start to finish. It's an absolute must-see for anyone in the city. And speaking of captivating… I actually got to chat with Velma Kelly after the show, and guess what?! We have the SAME taste in pink tutus! I'm blushing just thinking about it! 🙈
The sheer energy of Broadway shows is addictive. It fills you with so much passion and inspiration. There’s nothing like witnessing the performers come alive on stage and watching their stories unfold.
Where Fashion Reigns Supreme: Bergdorf Goodman
No trip to New York is complete without a pilgrimage to Bergdorf Goodman. This place is a shopper's paradise! From designer gowns to haute couture accessories, you name it, they’ve got it. I found myself in a flurry of beautiful clothing, sparkling jewelry, and shoes that screamed "take me home, now!"
You've probably noticed by now, I'm a big fan of statement pieces - that one little something that adds that extra sprinkle of magic to any outfit. And Bergdorf Goodman's selection never fails to impress me. This time, I treated myself to a pair of adorable, rose-gold, sparkling ballerina pumps with little pink bows - perfect for twirling in style! 👠 Plus, I just had to get another pink tutu (a girl can never have too many!), a lovely light-pink tulle number that flows perfectly.
Eating my way through the City
Of course, no trip to New York would be complete without indulging in some delicious bites! I'm all about finding those hidden gems, the places locals swear by.
This week's must-try: "Shake Shack" for a classic burger with the perfect crispy fries. It's a perfect comfort food moment after a day of twirling and shopping!
Tutu Inspiration Around Every Corner
New York City is an absolute ballet wonderland, with street performers and dance studios around every corner! I can't help but get caught up in the infectious energy. Watching the talent on display here inspires me to be my best, both on and off the stage.
And guess what?! My favourite local ballerina teacher just launched a new series of street performance classes. Can you believe it? Now, you can unleash your inner ballerina and strut your stuff on the city's streets. It's the ultimate way to dance, feel empowered and have the time of your life!
