Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #1257 - Dancing in the Big Apple!
Hello my gorgeous readers! It's Monday again, and that means it's time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Blog NYC. I'm so excited to share with you all the adventures I had in the Big Apple last week.
This week was all about the beautiful ballet, of course, but I also managed to squeeze in some fabulous shopping, a delicious afternoon tea, and some iconic NYC experiences.
It was actually a bit of a whirlwind – I came over from Derbyshire for a performance at the Joyce Theatre, and just as I was getting settled in, a call came through offering me a lead role in a show at Lincoln Center! Of course, I couldn’t say no. That means I had two full-on performances to fit into my schedule, on top of the regular city fun.
A Week in the Life of a Pink Tutu Wearing Ballerina
Thursday: A Majestic Joyce Theatre Debut
You know, there's nothing like performing in a new city. It brings such a special buzz. The Joyce Theatre is absolutely stunning – intimate, ornate, and buzzing with excitement. This show was extra special as it was for the National Ballet, and let’s just say, the whole experience left me speechless. As soon as I stepped onto the stage, the audience was captivated, and the feeling of being a part of something larger than myself was indescribable. I wore my lucky, shimmering pink tutu, of course, which sparkled like the city lights.
Friday: Broadway Bound, Pink Tutu Ready!
Friday morning started bright and early. I grabbed a delicious coffee and a croissant from the bakery across from my hotel and headed to the stage. This show is completely different from what I usually do – it’s modern and incredibly vibrant. The dancers were brilliant, each adding their own flavour to the movement. The energy on stage was electric. As I stepped into my costume (a fantastic tutu with neon pink accents) I thought how surreal it was to be part of such a big city spectacle! The performance was everything I could have dreamed of. And afterwards, there was the usual whirlwind of costume changes, press, and fan interviews.
Saturday: New York State of Mind
With all that adrenaline coursing through me, Saturday was the perfect day to unwind and immerse myself in the heart of NYC. After a delicious brunch, I indulged in a little retail therapy at Saks Fifth Avenue – there's nothing quite like feeling a stunning dress glide across your body! My favourite find was this bright pink vintage dress - perfectly Parisian chic and just right for an upcoming performance.
Later, I found myself indulging in a delightful afternoon tea at The Plaza Hotel. The elegance, the delicious cakes, the delicate finger sandwiches – just magical! The views were breathtaking too – gazing over Central Park, a million tiny lights twinkled in the dusk. Honestly, I think I'm already planning my next visit!
Sunday: Ballet Lessons at the City’s Best
Sunday is dedicated to ballet practice! This week, I took a masterclass at the illustrious Steps on Broadway. Let’s just say, I learned a few new moves and had the most amazing time dancing with fellow ballerinas. I even got a glimpse of my hero, a dancer named Anna – I mean, it felt surreal just to be in the same space.
After a fun lunch with some other dancers from the performance, it was time to rest and recharge.
Monday: A Week in Review and Back to Derbyshire
It was hard to say goodbye to this incredible city. As my taxi drove through Times Square, I knew I would be back soon, because every corner, every street, every nook of New York city, tells its own story, a story waiting to be explored.
As I write this blog post from the quiet serenity of my Derbyshire home, I still feel the energy of New York pulsing through me. But don’t think for a second that I’ll let it go.
Because as always, I'm already planning my next trip back – a Pink Tutu odyssey to capture more of the city’s sparkle and dance my way into new adventures.
Let’s Get That Tutu Going!
Until next time, my dearest readers. Remember to keep shining your pink light, to wear your tutu with pride, and never, ever, stop dancing.
Love, Emma xx
