#PinkTutuBlogNYC Monday 2021-09-27 - She Danced in New York City
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog. It's a Monday morning in New York City, and my heart is bursting with excitement. It feels so good to be back in the Big Apple. After weeks of whirlwind performances in Paris, London, and Dublin, it’s amazing to be home in my temporary home: New York.
This is blog post number 1373, and you know what? Every week, seeing your lovely comments on Pink Tutu Blog reminds me how much fun this journey is. I love sharing my passion for pink tutus, the magic of ballet, and the sheer joy of exploring all that the world has to offer, all with a sprinkle of fashionable flair!
For this week's #PinkTutuBlogNYC post, I'm going to talk about a delightful day of dancing, fashion, and delicious treats. I started my morning at the iconic Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in West Village. Did you know the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater was formed in 1958? Alvin Ailey, who began as a dancer and later as a choreographer, believed in the unifying power of dance to move audiences to action. This inspiring belief is reflected in the extraordinary dance pieces that are part of their repertoire, and are an essential part of a dance lovers tour.
Now, as you can guess, the day wasn’t just about seeing beautiful choreography; I wanted to take the dance studio for a whirl! It wasn’t quite a formal class, as I opted for an "Open-Level" adult ballet session – the perfect combination of ballet fun and fitness. Don't worry, I stayed true to my signature style and danced my heart out in a glorious pink tutu with sparkling accents. The combination of classical music and flowing movement felt like pure magic! My feet might have been sore after, but the smiles couldn't be wiped off my face!
Now, any proper dance enthusiast knows that a day of dance must be accompanied by some fabulous fashion. So after my class, it was time to venture into the fashion wonderland that is Fifth Avenue. And to really embody that quintessential New York vibe, I opted for the subway – the heart of the city’s bustling soul! Trust me, the hustle and bustle, the vibrant atmosphere, the flashing lights… the energy was electrifying!
I admit, squeezing myself and my oh-so-beautiful tutu into a crowded subway car with peak-hour commuters can be a little tricky. There was that delightful lady with an extremely well-balanced pile of newspapers, and the rather boisterous group of teenagers heading to their part-time jobs – the usual sights of any vibrant city, all making for a fun and authentic experience!
Now, after navigating my way through the concrete jungle, I found myself at the ultimate retail paradise – Bergdorf Goodman on 5th Avenue. I had the urge for some designer delights, and my, how I loved the extravagant displays and the sleek, glamorous designs. While I couldn't afford to treat myself to a piece of designer heaven (it is a tutu girl on a tight budget after all!), simply admiring the luxurious gowns and glittering jewels was a sensory delight.
Speaking of delights, my New York adventures wouldn't be complete without a stop at my favorite café on Madison Avenue: “Ladurée”. Now, Ladurée is known for its delightful macarons, but I found myself savouring their tea. The delicate floral aromas of their rose and chamomile tea were truly calming after a busy day. And what a lovely way to complete the afternoon – tea, cakes and fashion. You wouldn't believe the incredible array of colours of the macarons in every flavour you can think of! The beautiful vibrant pink ones called out to me - I love it when my pink matches! They do say everything in moderation, but as they say "Life is a cabaret old chum" so who am I to disagree!
With a perfectly sweet end to a fabulous day, I boarded the subway again, my mind buzzing with inspiration and my feet aching (a little) from all the dancing. Even with my sore feet, nothing beats dancing through the streets of New York City in a vibrant pink tutu. Every day is a dance, a song, a story – a unique and wonderful expression of life.
My dear Pink Tutu lovers, please do write and let me know about what you're enjoying right now. Let’s spread that pink tutu joy and together, let’s dance our way into a beautiful future!
Until next Monday, keep twirling and keep those pink tutus close!
