#PinkTutuBlogNYC – Monday 2022-02-07 – She Danced in New York City (Post #1392)
Hello, darlings! Welcome back to #PinkTutuBlogNYC – your weekly dose of all things pink, fabulous and…well, tutu-rific! As you know, my motto is "Every day is an opportunity to spread a little pink sparkle." And believe me, this past week in the Big Apple was filled to the brim with precisely that!
Now, I know you’re all dying to hear about my adventures…and believe me, it’s a story worth telling. But first, let’s have a little chinwag about something that’s close to my heart.
Why Pink Tutues Are The Answer
I often get asked: "Emma, why the tutus? Why pink?"
It’s a great question. Honestly, I believe in pink tutus the way some people believe in meditation or essential oils – they're simply good for the soul.
Think about it: tutus represent grace, artistry, and movement. They symbolise freedom and the joy of expressing yourself, and that is something we all need more of in our lives, wouldn't you agree?
And pink? Well, let’s be honest, pink is simply the most wonderful colour ever created! It’s delicate, optimistic, and cheerful – the perfect antidote to a dull day. Plus, it matches everything!
So, my mission remains simple – to share the joy of pink tutus with the world. And trust me, you won't find me backing down from this challenge any time soon! Now, without further ado…let’s dive into this week’s shenanigans!
A Dance Dream Come True in New York City
I arrived in New York City with a suitcase full of pink tutus, a head full of dreams, and a heart full of excitement. This was my first time in the Big Apple, and I was already in love with its bustling energy, its iconic skyline, and – let’s be honest – the fantastic array of shopping opportunities.
But what truly made this trip unforgettable was the dance performance I was privileged to attend on Wednesday evening. This wasn't just any performance, darlings! This was a night at the New York City Ballet, and the stars were out to shine.
As soon as I stepped into the grand Lincoln Center theatre, I felt that magical “New York City” buzz – the kind that makes your heart skip a beat and fills your eyes with wonder. It's impossible not to be mesmerised by the sheer energy and dynamism that vibrates in every corner of this iconic city.
But honestly, the ballet itself? That was simply sublime. The dancers were breathtaking. Every step, every movement, every leap…pure magic! The story they told with their bodies was powerful, elegant, and truly captivating.
My eyes were glued to the stage the entire evening. And the music…oh, the music! It transported me to a different world – a world of pure beauty, grace, and emotion. I swear, there were moments I felt I was floating right along with the dancers.
The show ended with a thunderous applause. I think I actually clapped so hard my hands tingled! I'm not usually one for being speechless, but there are certain moments that simply take the words right out of your mouth…and this performance was absolutely one of those moments.
Fashion Inspiration: The "New York Pink" Look
Speaking of wonder, I had the most divine time exploring New York's fashion scene. Honestly, the sheer number of stylish boutiques, quirky vintage shops and chic department stores could have easily kept me occupied for a week…or even a month! But who needs that much time when you’ve got a schedule packed full of tutu-clad fun and NYC’s finest cultural offerings?
Speaking of which, my very favourite shop discovery this week was a tiny little boutique on the Upper East Side called "Sugarplum Couture". The shop was practically bursting with vibrant pink tulle and playful designs. They were, like, literally the perfect tutu destination.
I emerged from the shop with a new blush-pink tulle skirt, an ethereal pink top that flowed like a cloud, and the biggest smile I've had all week. It was absolutely perfect for creating a look I’m calling "New York Pink". Think playful pink skirt, sophisticated pink top, a touch of statement jewellery and a dash of elegant ballet flats – and there you have it. The perfect way to dance your way through the streets of New York!
A Slice of New York City Life: The Metro
Now, no visit to the Big Apple is complete without a trip on the legendary New York Metro. As I discovered, the New York Metro is like a city in itself. And honestly, a very vibrant and engaging city at that!
There’s something fascinatingly authentic about navigating its labyrinthine corridors. It’s like a glimpse into the city’s raw soul, where everyone seems to have a story, a secret, or a dream waiting to be told. It's definitely a sensory overload, and certainly a reminder that there are still plenty of adventures waiting to be had within the bustling heart of New York City.
Oh, and my advice? Make sure to wear a tutu on your metro ride! It’s guaranteed to make the journey just a little bit more glamorous…and I promise you’ll be the most fashionable passenger in the entire carriage.
Ballet Inspiration: The Streets of New York
Another fantastic thing about New York? Well, everywhere you look, the city offers the most stunning dance inspiration. From the buskers on street corners to the broadway musicals that flood the theatre districts – it seems that every street corner in New York is overflowing with a sense of creativity and dynamic artistry.
That feeling definitely inspires me – and that’s why you’ll be seeing some seriously awesome "Street Dance" blog posts popping up soon!
But before I wrap this up… I’m always delighted to answer any questions you might have. Have a fabulous time trying on pink tutus and embracing the spirit of the dance. As always, you can email me at
Until Next Week…
Until next week, darling readers, continue to embrace life’s challenges with grace, artistry and a generous dose of pink. Remember: with a little bit of confidence, a whole lot of style and a sprinkle of tutus – anything is possible!
Oh, and keep dancing! I'll be right here in New York City, exploring the latest fashion finds and creating even more "pink sparkle" to spread across the globe.
Have a lovely week!
With love and twirls,
Emma
