Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing, city-loving blogger, Emma, and it's Monday which means it's time for a fresh post from my little corner of New York City!
This week has been a whirlwind of tutus, shows, and shopping – oh my! The Big Apple never fails to deliver when it comes to fashion and entertainment. It's almost impossible to describe the excitement buzzing through my pink-tinted glasses!
A Ballet Dream Come True:
The weekend started with the most magical of things - a private viewing of the American Ballet Theatre's "The Nutcracker." Oh, darling, the costumes, the music, the sheer brilliance of it all! The sheer pink tutu worn by the Sugar Plum Fairy brought tears to my eyes – pure ballet perfection. It's moments like these that remind me why I spend every day twirling and dreaming in a pink tutu!
Subway Shenanigans:
A highlight of my weekend? My trip to the Metropolitan Opera for their production of Verdi’s “Rigoletto”! But first, I had to navigate the subway. And trust me, my tutu and I created quite a spectacle, a flurry of pink in the bustling underground. A little old lady stopped me to tell me she looked forward to seeing my “pink wonder” in the city each week. How could I not be charmed?!
The Tutu Trail Continues!
I always find a hidden gem, a tucked-away shop, or a secret alleyway bursting with fashion inspiration while exploring the city. This weekend, I found a tiny vintage shop called "Twirling Threads" on Bleecker Street. They had the most delightful collection of ballet-inspired accessories - ribbons, flowers, feathers, you name it. Of course, I had to treat myself to a new feathered hairpiece – you know, for the gram! 😉
Fashionista Fun:
It wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu Blog NYC post without mentioning the fabulous fashion finds! I discovered the most gorgeous collection of statement jewellery at a little boutique in Greenwich Village. I snapped up a pair of chandelier earrings that sparkled like a thousand little stars! You know I just had to grab the perfect pink clutch bag to complete my look, right?
What’s Happening in New York This Week:
Now, let's talk about the exciting things happening in New York this week!
- The Winter Village in Bryant Park officially opened with the iconic ice skating rink and Christmas markets – perfect for a photo opportunity in my favourite pink tutu, I'm thinking!
- New York Fashion Week is also taking place this week! There are so many shows and events I can’t wait to see and report back on, like the incredible Dior collection!
- On Saturday, I'm attending a special workshop hosted by the American Ballet Theatre at the beautiful Brooklyn Academy of Music. It’s going to be all about technique and exploring my inner ballerina! 🩰
From Derbyshire to NYC:
For all my fellow Derbyshire lovelies out there (don’t forget your Derwent Valley Millennium Centre performances!), you can bet I'll be sending a special pink tutu wave your way! It’s crazy to think that I’m a Derbyshire girl now calling New York my temporary home! You just have to follow your dreams, right? I never thought I would be living this extraordinary life in this extraordinary city. I truly feel like a ballerina living my fairytale, surrounded by beauty and creativity!
