Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #1447: A Tutu-licious Time in the City that Never Sleeps! 🩰✨
Hello darlings! It's Monday, which means a brand new post from yours truly, Emma, the Pink Tutu blogger, straight from the heart of the Big Apple, New York City! This week has been an absolute whirlwind of tutus, Broadway shows, and, of course, oodles of shopping, and I'm absolutely bursting with excitement to share it all with you.
Let's rewind a little, shall we? I flew in from Derbyshire last Wednesday, my bags overflowing with all the frilly pink tutus a girl could need (more on those later!), and touched down in New York feeling a tingle of that familiar excitement that always gets me when I arrive in this magical city. I'm funded, you see, by the joy of performing - from beautiful ballet recitals to elegant performances that take me all around the world. So, this week, I'm sharing the spotlight, showcasing my skills on a stage near Central Park - the dream, right?!
First stop after arriving was my favourite spot for a good cuppa - The Tea & Sympathy in Greenwich Village. Oh my goodness, they have the most gorgeous cakes, darling! All piled high with cream and buttercream frosting, perfect with a hot pot of Earl Grey. (Seriously, you must try the Victoria sponge - pure heaven!).
Feeling all sugared up and ready to go, I grabbed a delicious pasty from the charming little bakery next door and set off exploring, my new pink tutu twirling along, drawing a few giggles and smiles from fellow passersby. I just love the joy it brings!
Now, no trip to New York would be complete without a Broadway show, wouldn't you agree? This week, I saw "Hadestown," a spellbinding production with stunning costumes, incredible music, and the most wonderful choreography. Seriously, it was like watching a living fairytale unfold right before my eyes! The show ran for over two hours and I could have stayed glued to my seat for longer. The costumes, darling! Imagine tutus with actual Grecian goddesses, with golden fabric, and a touch of sparkling embroidery! Talk about giving a little extra twinkle!
Next on the agenda - shopping! Let me tell you, the fashion scene in NYC is a thing of beauty! From vintage finds to the latest designer looks, there’s something for every style. I had to grab some new threads from Anthropologie, darling - those silky dresses with little floral details? Just my cup of tea! And of course, a trip to Macy’s for a peek at the latest collections! Who doesn't love a little sparkly touch in their life, am I right?
Speaking of sparkly, my ballet class was a total delight! I adore my ballet school, nestled amongst the high rises - you wouldn't think to find such a place, but it's so charming! I was whizzing through pirouettes in my brand new sequined tutu, feeling every ounce of grace and strength. (Let's just say it's more 'practising' than 'perfect', but you get the idea, right?)
I couldn't possibly spend time in New York without hopping on the metro! Let's face it, it's so New York, and just so convenient. Although I must confess, those little tunnels can feel quite different than the Underground back home! I did have a chuckle this week though, when a group of youngsters were sporting their tutus - it turned out they were heading for their own ballet class, their little tutus fluttering as they danced down the platform! I swear I nearly burst into a fit of giggles, and who can blame me? Tutu love knows no age, my darlings.
On Sunday, I felt a hankering for a taste of New York's diverse cultural offerings. So, I decided to catch the "Harlem Gospel Choir" performance at the The Harlem Church It was such an incredibly moving experience! I found myself captivated by the soulful music, the energetic voices, and the spirit that radiated throughout the room. The passion and joy they exuded was truly infectious - it left me feeling inspired and exhilarated, ready to take on the rest of my week!
Of course, I had to capture all the tutu-licious moments from my trip with my favourite pink camera - every single moment was worthy of being shared with you lovely lot! From the vibrant street art in Bushwick to the bustling farmers market on Union Square, it was a day full of discovering hidden gems, and getting lost in the beauty of this vibrant city.
My trip, unfortunately, had to come to an end as quickly as it began, and on Monday I caught a flight back home. But the magic of New York continues to live on in my memories, and in my heart - every moment a reminder of how much there is to see and discover, even beyond my little world of tutus and ballet!
Speaking of tutus, darling, I've already been planning my next big trip! (Stay tuned for more posts, much closer to the stage... and the shopping!)
Until next week, dear readers! Keep those twirls and smiles coming, and remember: there’s a pink tutu out there waiting for everyone, just waiting to bring a little more joy to your lives! ✨
Stay stylish, stay fabulous, and as always...
