Hello darlings! Itās Emma, your resident Pink Tutu aficionado, and Iām absolutely thrilled to be back in the Big Apple, a place where even the pigeons strut their stuff with a certain New York je ne sais quoi. This week's post comes to you live from the bustling metropolis itself, where my pink tutu has been twirling, twirling, twirling through the concrete jungle.
Today marks my fourteenth consecutive week sharing my adventures with you, my fabulous and fashion-forward followers. If youāre new here, well then, hello there! Welcome to the world of Pink Tutu Blog NYC, where lifeās a stage and every day is an opportunity to embrace the whimsy and wear the colour pink ā especially with a tulle skirt on!
This weekās adventures are tinged with a delicate pink hue ā the colour of blooming cherry blossoms, freshly made macarons, and of course, my very own beloved pink tutu!
I arrived in New York yesterday, my trusty suitcase brimming with sequins and chiffon, a wardrobe that speaks to my love of the performing arts and a dash of my Derbyshire roots (it's a long story but let's just say, a Derbyshire girl can't escape her passion for the finer things).
I stepped onto the subway, the familiar rumble of the train carrying me from the airport straight to my Midtown hotel, where my balcony overlooks the sprawling expanse of Central Park. The sun was shining through the leaves of the towering oak trees and the birdsong in the air filled me with pure joy. What a fabulous start to my adventure!
My itinerary for this week is as follows:
A Tuesday Treat at the Theatre: Oh, how I love a Broadway show! This week, I'll be immersing myself in the magic of "Moulin Rouge!" - and wouldn't you know it, I just happen to have a spectacular crimson tutu waiting in the wings for this particular performance! You can imagine the delight this is bringing me.
Shopping Spree on 5th Avenue: Whatās a visit to New York without a shopping spree, darling? The designers and boutiques on 5th Avenue will have me swooning for days, from the latest styles of Alexander McQueen to the timeless elegance of Oscar de la Renta. It's just not complete without adding a pink ribbon, or two.
A Saturday Soiree in SoHo: No weekend in the city is complete without a jaunt through SoHo. This charming, cobblestoned district boasts some of the trendiest fashion stores, chic coffee shops, and breathtaking art galleries. I'm envisioning a casual Friday with a bit of a bohemian touch!
Sunday's Serenity in the City: As a girl who loves a good spin class and all things Pilates, I have a date with myself this Sunday morning at a fabulously posh boutique fitness studio. My weekend in New York always feels so much better after a morning dedicated to self-care. Then, a leisurely stroll through the city parks before heading back to my home sweet home, with stories galore.
Of course, between all these lovely outings, I'll be hitting up a ballet class or two, you know, to keep the pirouettes polished! My quest to get everyone wearing a pink tutu never sleeps, and you can believe this will involve a spontaneous flash mob or two ā watch out NYC, I'm coming for you!
This week Iām particularly excited because the American Ballet Theatre is hosting a spectacular performance this Thursday evening, featuring renowned ballerina Misty Copeland, an absolute icon! To be honest, itās more than just seeing the performance, itās about the sheer energy and excitement, that palpable thrill of watching ballerinas execute some of the most impressive feats of physical prowess and artistry! This, darlings, is truly something special.

Remember, there is a certain something about New York City that draws me in. It's a kaleidoscope of lights, the ceaseless energy of the city that never sleeps, the artistic undercurrent flowing through the city's arteries, and most of all, it's that ineffable, almost magical spirit that makes you feel anything is possible. And my lifeās mantra has been that anything is possible, and dreams should be dreamt with a healthy dash of whimsy! I know this for sure: my dream is to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu - and if that's what I get to do while traveling around the world with my trusty suitcase and my trusty tutus, well that sounds just about perfect.
