Hello my darling tutus! 🩰 It's Monday again, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuBlogNYC post! I’m so excited to share all the fabulous happenings of my trip to the Big Apple, a city that truly knows how to whirl, twirl, and shimmy its way into your heart!
As always, my week began with a journey on the Metro, the pulse of New York City. Oh, the adventures you can have on a train! From the bustling crowds of business folks rushing to work in their perfectly tailored suits, to the mothers cradling giggling babies in carriers – the city comes alive on the subway. I slipped my bright pink tutu beneath a light denim jacket, my bright pink ballerina flats, perfectly coordinated with the floral design of my backpack. The Metro, for me, is always a front-row seat to a captivating ballet of urban life.
This week, I'm wearing my latest vintage pink tutu find from a little hidden treasure shop near Times Square. This vintage tutu is all things delicate and ethereal; think delicate layers of shimmering chiffon, adorned with tiny sparkling rhinestones. I must admit, a little more princess and a little less en pointe today, but always keeping that pink tutu spirit alive. The perfect choice for a day of shopping and exploring the wonders of Manhattan.
The sun is shining, and I am ready to embrace the day with the energy and sprightliness of a ballerina after a perfect class. First stop: Barneys New York. I’ve been eager to browse their fabulous selection of shoes and designer duds for a few weeks now, so this morning was a ballet of retail therapy!
My love for ballet knows no bounds, not even in the midst of a shopping spree! As I strolled through the store, a gorgeous pair of ruby-red ballet shoes with pointed toes caught my eye. My imagination danced to the melody of a perfect plié in those shoes!
Let's be honest – New York is a city of enchanting contradictions, and so are we! Yes, I may have my pink tutu firmly attached and a touch of a fantastical spirit bubbling inside me, but I'm also a serious ballet dancer. Each step is a dance, every pirouette a celebration of the joy of movement. It's all about striking that perfect balance between the delicate and the dramatic!
Now, what could be a more captivating dance than a Broadway show? The very heart of New York’s cultural scene! This evening I’ll be witnessing the magic of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, an energetic and glamorous celebration of love and laughter. Can’t wait to get all dressy up for a night of Parisian-style sparkle and glamour! (I may even have to take a quick twirl between the aisles of a certain glitzy Broadway shop I discovered yesterday.)
Let me take you on a little journey through the vibrant streets of this magnificent city. From the thrill of a Broadway show, to the delectable scents wafting from charming cafes on the corner, every moment in New York is a story waiting to unfold. You simply need to have a sense of adventure and a dash of tutu spirit to discover the magic within!
The highlight of my day was discovering the New York Public Library. This grand dame of literature is an architectural masterpiece, a treasure trove of history and wisdom, just begging to be explored! And of course, I didn't forget my trusty pink tutu, a symbol of grace, creativity and joy, a reminder that dreams are always within our grasp, whether in a quiet library or on the bustling stage.
Oh, did I tell you about my little dance-inspired shopping haul?
- I snagged a gorgeous pink cardigan with a little beaded rose embellishment (the perfect touch for a ballet-inspired outfit), and
- a new pair of sparkly black flats from that little boutique shop in SoHo. I know, I know - they are not technically ballet flats, but they were just begging to twirl and spin me through the streets of New York!
Every day is a ballet performance here in New York. I don't even need a stage; just a pair of sparkly shoes and a bit of music, and my heart will skip a beat and my feet will take flight. I've been thinking, maybe it's time to set up a flash mob in Central Park. Can you imagine the scene? Scores of pink tutus swaying and dancing under the open sky? The idea fills me with the same electric energy as the bright lights of Broadway.
