Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #1483 – New York, New York, it’s a tutu good time!
Hello my darlings! It's Emma, your favourite tutu-wearing blogger, back from the bustling streets of New York City with another exciting week's worth of adventures! As you all know, I adore the city that never sleeps, and this trip was no exception. This week was positively overflowing with ballet, fabulous fashion, and enough pink to make your eyes twinkle.
Monday's Metro Mayhem
Let's get straight to it - Monday morning kicked off with a bit of metro mayhem! I always feel like I'm on stage when I hop on the New York subway, especially in my favourite blush pink tulle skirt and sparkly ballet flats. The rush hour scramble is a performance of its own, wouldn't you agree?
Tutu Training at the American Ballet Theatre
Of course, no trip to New York is complete without a dose of ballet, and I was thrilled to join a class at the American Ballet Theatre! The studio was so inspiring, filled with graceful dancers in their leotards and tights. It’s not every day you get to twirl alongside future prima ballerinas!
Afternoon of All Things Pink
My afternoon was devoted to my absolute favourite pastime – shopping! I stumbled across the most adorable boutique on Broadway selling the prettiest pink dresses and accessories. It was practically made for me! Let's just say, my suitcase is feeling a bit heavy already...
The Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theatre
In the evening, I had the most divine treat: seeing The Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theatre. The music was exquisite, and I was utterly captivated by the costumes and the elaborate set design. It was so incredibly theatrical - the kind of spectacle I just adore!
Tuesday - A Walk in Central Park
After the thrill of the theatre, Tuesday started off with a calming walk through Central Park. You know me - I'm all about the perfect balance between city bustle and peaceful reflection. Central Park, in the golden autumn light, offered the perfect serenity. Plus, I snapped a few incredible photos in my new pink tutu. I couldn’t resist - it felt absolutely perfect for a Central Park picnic!
The Met’s Costume Institute
No trip to New York is complete without a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Costume Institute never fails to amaze me. From historical fashion to the latest trends, the exhibits are always inspiring and beautifully curated. I got so much inspiration for new tutu designs!
Dinner with Friends at Carmines
In the evening, I dined with a group of fabulous fellow ballerinas I met on my last New York trip. We feasted on a delicious Italian dinner at Carmine’s - think heaps of pasta, enough garlic bread to feed a small army, and lively conversation until the early hours.
Wednesday’s Wanderings in Greenwich Village
Wednesday was dedicated to a leisurely stroll through Greenwich Village. I explored the cute independent boutiques and trendy cafés. The bohemian vibes in the Village always leave me feeling inspired - especially with the fall colors bursting around.
Brooklyn Ballet Debut
Later, I attended a wonderful performance by the Brooklyn Ballet! It was a charming and inventive contemporary ballet piece, set against the backdrop of Brooklyn Bridge.
Thursday’s Fashion Fix
On Thursday, it was all about fashion. After grabbing a delectable brunch at a cute little cafe, I made my way to Fifth Avenue for some serious window shopping. Oh, those extravagant designer boutiques… so divine!
Catching a Broadway Show
In the evening, I experienced another theatrical treat - "Hadestown" on Broadway. It was an unconventional and unique musical, mixing folk rock with a mythical story. I loved it!
Friday’s Fantastic Food
Friday started with a visit to the iconic Chelsea Market! I indulged in delicious cheeses and cured meats at some of the stalls - it was pure foodie heaven! It's a great place to pick up some lovely gourmet gifts for my loved ones back in Derbyshire.
Time Warp at The Clocktower
To finish the week off in style, I headed to The Clocktower, an enchanting speakeasy bar in the heart of the city. This spot always takes me back in time. The drinks are perfectly mixed, the music is just right, and the atmosphere is captivating.
Weekend Wandering and Reflections
With Saturday and Sunday, I wanted to explore a bit more of New York’s diverse neighbourhoods. This weekend was all about trying delicious authentic ethnic foods, watching the local musicians on the street, and taking in the energy of a truly vibrant city. It really does feel like every day in New York City brings a new experience!
A Farewell to the Big Apple (For Now!)
So there you have it, my latest adventures in the Big Apple! I'm so incredibly grateful to have spent a week here, indulging in my love of ballet, exploring new places, and filling up my creative well.
