Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #1513 - Monday 3rd June 2024 - Dancing Through the Big Apple!
Hello my darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog NYC!
It’s a glorious Monday morning here in the Big Apple, and I'm brimming with excitement. As I type this, I can practically hear the rhythmic clatter of tap shoes and the swirling sound of tutus as dancers take to the streets, transforming concrete into a stage. Today, I’m embracing the city's vibrant energy, a touch of pink tulle, of course, as I head out on my latest adventures.
This week, I've got an extra spring in my step because I’m officially declaring June “Pink Tutu Month!” And what better place to celebrate this than in New York City, where anything goes and every day feels like a whimsical performance? I know, I know – you’re probably picturing a swarm of pink-clad dancers strutting through Times Square. While that would be delightful, let's keep it a little more subtle for now. (Although I'm already scheming a flash mob… hint hint).
So, where did I start my day, you ask? Why, at the absolute pinnacle of New York City glamour – Bergdorf Goodman! That’s right, my dear readers, I kicked off “Pink Tutu Month” in style. I felt a bit like Cinderella stepping out of a carriage as I sashayed into the luxurious, grand hall of Bergdorf’s, complete with shimmering chandeliers and impossibly beautiful window displays. Let's just say it's an experience in itself, and the best part? The most magical pink-hued accessories and dresses were sprinkled amongst the haute couture - just begging to be worn for an elegant outing to the ballet.
And speaking of the ballet, my sweet friend Sarah (who you all know and love from my travels across Europe – a fellow pink tutu aficionado!) flew over to New York to join me. She landed yesterday and has already whisked me through the intricate beauty of The Metropolitan Museum of Art - we practically waltzed through the ancient Egyptian exhibits, stopping to take a moment for dramatic photos amongst the exquisite Greek sculpture!
Later this afternoon, we are both off to The New York Public Library to meet another kindred spirit, our friend David, an aspiring fashion photographer. We’re hoping he’ll capture our "Pink Tutu Month" spirit with his camera lens and help us spread the joy of pink tulle. Oh, the stories this month will unfold! I’ll keep you updated on all the pink-tastic happenings, from whimsical fashion shoots to the hottest ballet shows the city has to offer!
Now, let’s rewind a bit and bring you back to the journey that got us here!
As you all know, my quest to embrace the pink tutu life began back in Derbyshire, England, in the quaint little village of Bakewell. Growing up surrounded by rolling hills and quaint stone houses, the world felt just a bit too small for my dancing soul. I longed to discover the electrifying pulse of a city, where the stage lights were always bright, the melodies never-ending, and where every day felt like a performance.
And New York City, with its whirlwind energy, was the perfect city to set the scene for my adventures! I landed here two years ago, my bright pink tutu fluttering in the breeze as I stepped off the plane, ready to dance my way through the heart of Manhattan. My aim is simple: I want to inspire the world to embrace a little pink tulle magic in their lives, whether it be a twirl around Central Park or a dramatic grand jeté on the subway platform!
And just how have I managed to bring my little slice of pink-tutu heaven to the Big Apple? I'm fortunate to have honed my dance skills with the Derbyshire Dance Company - years of dedication, long hours in the studio, and a passion for classical ballet have allowed me to not only fund my travels but also experience the exquisite beauty of dance in all its forms. I've graced the stage with graceful waltzes, the captivating power of pointe work, and the thrilling grace of classical ballet. Every performance brings a surge of energy that keeps me going and propels me onto new adventures.
And trust me, when it comes to adventures, New York City doesn’t disappoint. In the past few years, my Pink Tutu journey has led me down cobblestone streets lined with boutiques, taken me to Broadway theatres where dreams are brought to life, and led me down subway tunnels bursting with human stories, all in the heart of Manhattan. It's an incredible experience to wander through this diverse and vibrant city with my bright pink tutu in tow. People stop and smile, often breaking into applause, their faces awash with joy as they embrace my colourful personality and, perhaps, even consider embracing their own!
Remember last week, when I discovered that hidden vintage shop tucked away in the West Village, where I stumbled upon an extraordinary pink sequinned tutu? Well, my dearest readers, it was exactly the perfect addition to my growing wardrobe of whimsical tutus. That one is already destined to become a New York City icon! It’s just too fabulous not to!
My quest to share the pink-tutu love with New York City has become more than a simple blog, it’s a personal journey of joy, acceptance, and pushing the boundaries of fashion, art, and most importantly, love!
Since starting this blog, my days have been a whirlwind of excitement: exploring bustling farmer's markets bursting with delicious produce, taking whimsical photos of street art with Sarah, enjoying decadent coffee with friends, and dancing through the city streets with my trusty pink tutu, a splash of color against the concrete jungle.
What better way to embrace New York City's relentless energy than with a dash of pink tulle magic? The city itself becomes a canvas for self-expression and creativity.
And as I wrap up my blog today, my gaze lands upon the captivating backdrop of New York City – a kaleidoscope of colors, sounds, and textures, I realise my journey has only just begun! With each post, each pink-tutu-inspired adventure, I hope to spread joy and a little bit of “pink-tutu magic” to anyone who’s willing to join me. Stay tuned, because this week in New York promises a dazzling mix of artistic beauty, incredible fashion moments, and perhaps, a flash mob…or two. I hope you'll join me on my pink-tutu adventures and spread the word, darling, because June is “Pink Tutu Month,” and there’s no better way to embrace it than by spreading joy and twirling around the city with a splash of pink tulle!
