#PinkTutuBlogNYC Monday 2025-10-20: New York, New York!

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink-loving tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, back from a whirlwind trip to the Big Apple! This is post number 1585, and I’m so excited to be back in my favourite city. As you know, I’ve been touring with my ballet company for the past few months, and this week we were performing at the magnificent Lincoln Center, so I knew a little trip to New York was on the cards!

Remember those beautiful ruby red pointe shoes I showed you in my last post? The ones I just knew were going to take my performance in “Giselle” to the next level? Well, they were absolutely amazing! I was literally gliding across the stage. I love those ruby slippers! They got such a great reaction from the audience, too! A standing ovation every night – what a feeling! It makes all the hard work and rehearsals completely worth it. I wouldn’t be where I am without all those hours spent perfecting those grand jetés and fouetté turns, not to mention the incredible team I get to work with. I couldn’t have asked for a better company to travel and perform with.

Ballet, Fashion, and New York – a Match Made in Heaven!

So, after the final performance, we said goodbye to Lincoln Center and headed back to our hotel. I always get this feeling of excitement and energy when I arrive in New York – the place simply vibrates with possibilities! We were staying in the Village this time, and it didn’t disappoint – all those charming boutiques, street artists, and, of course, amazing food. Speaking of food, we tried a new ramen place in Little Italy on Saturday. Oh my, the ramen was like a dream. So full of flavour. They did a fabulous vegetarian ramen.

The Tutus Are Back in Town!

My lovely ballet company wouldn’t let me arrive in New York without my usual ensemble – you guessed it – a pink tutu! I have a whole wardrobe of tutus, darling! It’s almost like I have a tutu for every mood and every occasion. There’s a sunshine yellow tutu for summer, a glittering silver one for New Year’s Eve, a sparkling purple one for the autumn – the list goes on and on. But this trip called for a particular tutu – it's made of silk and chiffon, a delicate peachy pink, and with a slightly ruffled hem. It felt so luxurious – perfect for the big city! I can't get enough of the attention it gets wherever I go – I’ve even been asked to pose for photos with street artists. It's not often I get to wear a tutu outside the studio or theatre.

Fashion, Shopping, and Culture - A Day Out in Manhattan!

As usual, I spent my downtime in Manhattan exploring, soaking up the energy of the city, and, of course, doing a little bit of shopping! I had to pick up some new outfits to complement my latest tutu! This time I went for a cute pink top and a pair of cream-coloured palazzo pants, the perfect look for exploring a bustling city like New York! And it made the metro journey such a fun experience! Everyone kept looking at me, and I even had a conversation with a lady who told me that my tutu was “absolutely divine!” Isn't it amazing how something as simple as a pink tutu can spark a conversation? It's a reminder to all of us to embrace our individuality and not be afraid to express ourselves, no matter how silly it may seem!

My Little Piece of New York

Sunday was all about theatre, something I adore in New York City. My companions this time were two of my lovely colleagues from the company – I absolutely adore them both, we’ve shared so much laughter on our travels! We headed to Broadway and managed to grab last-minute tickets for “Wicked,” one of my favourite shows. As a ballerina, it’s so inspiring to see the sheer scale of these stage productions – they truly are works of art! And, of course, the performances were out of this world, such raw talent! You know it’s an exceptional show when it makes you weep, laugh, and feel all sorts of emotions at once. After the show, we headed back to the Village to catch up on some much-needed sleep.

Pink Tutu Power!

You know I love to travel and get out and explore different places. But I have to say, coming home after being away for a few months always makes me realise what’s really important to me – being in my own space, getting my fix of ballet practice, and sharing my passion for this amazing art form with you all! You can always catch my new blog post here every Monday at www.pink-tutu.com, and follow me on Instagram at #PinkTutuBlogNYC – I’d love to hear from you all! What are your favourite things to do in New York? What do you think about the tutus? Would you dare to wear one on the metro? Tell me everything!

See you all next week!

Love and sparkles,

Emma

XOXO
