Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #1602 - Dancing in the City that Never Sleeps!

Hello, darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind week in the most fabulous city in the world: New York! This week has been a dream come true - I've been twirling my way through Manhattan, soaking up the culture, the fashion, and of course, the amazing ballet scene. It's been such an adventure, and I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement to share all the glittery, twirly details with you.

It’s funny how my life’s taken a turn for the truly fabulous! Back in Derbyshire, who would’ve thought I'd be blogging from New York? It all started with my passion for ballet and a love of everything pink. You see, I believe that everyone can tap into their inner ballerina, no matter where you are, or what your life is like! I always knew there was a place for my sparkly tutu in the world, and let me tell you, New York City embraced it with open arms.

Pink Power in the City that Never Sleeps

You see, NYC is full of exciting, creative souls. It's the place where anyone can find their tribe, their own little piece of magic. As a pink tutu-clad ballerina, I’m no exception! And, to top it off, New York has the most stunning, inspiring ballet scene.

Twirling Through Time: My Favourite Finds

Firstly, my trip was perfectly timed, as the February 16th, this year saw New York City Ballet's 'Balanchine in February: Symphony in Three Movements'. It was like a ballet symphony. Imagine all the drama and joy of the New York City Ballet, in all their glory, in one evening. It left me totally speechless. (And with the biggest grin, as per usual).

Subway Chic: Getting Around

A big shout-out to the iconic New York subway. Forget being all fancy in your cab! The subway, that is the place where real New York fashion magic happens. Every station was a kaleidoscope of creativity and personal style, like a fashion show on wheels. You'll see anything, from sharp power suits, to ripped denim, the iconic red, yellow, and blue New York Taxi print, and the oh-so-fabulous pink tutu, of course!

A Tutu-filled Shopping Spree

And of course, it wouldn't be a trip to New York without a little retail therapy, or should I say ā€œretail twirling therapyā€? I'm in love with the little boutique stores tucked away on side streets, they're like secret gems. One shop called "Pink Elephant" had a vintage collection of tutus. You know how much I love those. They all felt like a piece of theatre history! I also found some stunning sparkly hair clips at "Glitter and Gold". My outfit was complete, sparkling with more pink than you can possibly imagine, it felt absolutely amazing!

Eating like a Ballerina

This might be a bit controversial, but as a true ballerina, my diet is everything. And I gotta say, New York city didn't disappoint. There's a plethora of delightful restaurants with incredible vegetarian and vegan options, especially around the theatre districts, that still tasted absolutely delicious. Of course, I made an exception for a slice of New York’s legendary cheese cake… It's all about balance, darlings!

Living the High-Life: My NYC Flat

I found myself staying in the cutest little flat in a bohemian part of Brooklyn. Think floral wallpaper, velvet cushions, and just the right amount of glitz. I'll share all the dƩcor tips in a future post, you'll absolutely love it. It made for the perfect home base between performances, and of course, those essential photo shoots for my Instagram!

Beyond the Ballet

Let's be honest, a New Yorker’s heart is more than just ballet (though that's my personal love!) This city has so much to offer. So, naturally, I had to take a detour and venture to Central Park, one of my favourite spots on the entire planet! With so much green in the city, the contrast between the natural world and the steel and glass skyline, was pretty surreal. I took some fantastic pictures of my favourite shade, of course. And of course, the fashion inspiration never ends.

Final Thoughts and Twirling Dreams

Every single minute of this week in New York has been absolutely breathtaking. My heart is brimming with inspiration, joy, and, more than a bit of excitement for my next big adventure. What can I say? Life's a ballet, my darlings! Every moment is a new pirouette!

Before I end this post, I want to emphasise something important to me, you can create your own life. You don’t need to stick with the script. My biggest dream is to inspire everyone, no matter your age or style, to find their inner tutu. I know it may sound strange, but a tutu is a symbol of confidence, strength and most importantly, expression. Just wear whatever makes your heart sing!

Until next week darlings,

Emma x
