Pink Tutu Blog: NYC - #1623 - Monday, 13th July 2026

Hey, darling! Emma here, ready to whisk you off on another magical journey! This week, we’re dancing our way through the streets of the Big Apple – New York City! That’s right, folks, the pink tutu has made its grand entrance in the land of Broadway and yellow taxis. I'm excited!

Firstly, let's acknowledge the obvious: the pink tutu has never looked more at home than here. This vibrant city is buzzing with a constant energy, a frenetic dance of life. It’s a perfect match for the playful and whimsical pink tutu. I swear, every time I hop onto the subway in this amazing pink tutu, people grin! It's almost as if they just had a secret giggle with the best friend they have never met!

New York, New York! You’re just SO vibrant! There’s a million things to do and even more things to see! It's exhilarating just to be here! It’s that kind of energy that can make you feel as if you could dance through the streets, twirling and leaping as you go!

Speaking of twirling, New York's ballet scene has stolen my heart. There's something magical about seeing world-class performances right in the heart of this vibrant city. I caught a show last night - Swan Lake – the drama and the beauty were stunning, the music and the dancing had me transported to another world! There was a beautiful Russian ballerina – just incredible – and I just had to meet her backstage. I mean, it's all well and good going to these amazing performances, but wouldn't it be even better if you got to talk to the dancers?! That's the Pink Tutu way of life - why just enjoy the spectacle, when you could actually get a bit of that sparkle on your own face, too? I hope this sweet little tutu will get me backstage at the Metropolitan Opera House! It's been on my bucket list ever since I arrived. Maybe one day!

Oh, before we dive into the whirlwind of my New York escapades, a quick note: you can catch up with all my adventures and ballet inspirations over on www.pink-tutu.com. I try to update my blog every Monday – that’s when we both get our weekly dose of pink!

So, without further ado, let's begin with my New York journey!

Friday - Arrival Day

Arriving in New York, even with my suitcase bursting at the seams with pretty dresses and tulle, the whole thing was incredibly exciting. You know those dreams you have where you find yourself soaring through the sky and all of a sudden you just have to laugh because it's SO ridiculously funny – this felt a bit like that!

The taxi driver – let's call him 'Big Tony' - he’s definitely in my mind already, let me tell you - took one look at me and my tutu and his eyes lit up with pure joy. "Lady, you're going to have a blast in New York," he proclaimed, as he dropped my luggage in the foyer of the hotel. "Keep dancing!" Big Tony was a man who definitely lived life to the fullest. That's definitely a life lesson I need to keep in my mind – I just don't want the sparkly pink tutu to be in my mind forever, so I'll keep going and not just dream!

Saturday – Time to explore

The city is a real feast for the eyes – you never know what's round the next corner, and the lights! OMG, the lights!

After a delicious breakfast – New York breakfasts are divine! - my mission was simple: wander the streets of the West Village! I put my best ballet shoes on - pink with diamante details - and stepped out into the glorious Saturday sunshine. I headed to Bleecker Street - you HAVE to get a cup of coffee in this little, quaint, amazing street - I think I had six!

My goal was to find the perfect pink outfit. A real princess deserves a new crown! My inner princess was whispering a soft "Ooh, this will be perfect! You look stunning, Emma!"

I popped into so many fantastic little boutiques. I mean, I knew I was in a fabulous city, but it's hard to get a grip of just HOW fashionable people really are - everyone has style, from the ladies on the corner to the taxi driver in the yellow car! It's just SO chic and SO elegant. It's as if this whole city had some magic in the water – just gorgeous, all the way!

Eventually, in a teeny tiny boutique filled with sparkling trinkets, I found her. My newest best friend - a gorgeous peach satin top with a giant bow, a frilly little skirt in hot pink – it really does scream, 'Darling, I'm fabulous! Look at me!'' and my favourite ballet flats. Pink, with sparkly pink bows, obviously. What else?

I tried the whole outfit on – a perfect fit! The dress really was beautiful and had such an elegant and dainty touch. My reflection grinned back, it was like meeting an old friend again! Oh, I looked divine!

A whirlwind of shopping later, my bags weighed heavy, but my heart felt even lighter!

Sunday – Broadway Bound

You simply can’t come to New York without seeing a Broadway show! I managed to snag tickets to the last showing of the Chicago tour – lucky, right? I’d heard they were a huge hit, with jazz dancing and twirling! Oh my, I was excited, like a little child getting a gift.

I took my seat in the heart of the theatre, just a couple of rows away from the stage, in a beautifully-designed theatre. The anticipation buzzing in the room was enough to give anyone goosebumps! It's such a funny thing when everyone is excited, there's almost an air of nervousness. It’s funny when we're waiting for something, like all excited and waiting, we start to worry.

The moment the lights dimmed, it was as if a spell had been cast. The lights came up again, I saw those dancers start to twirl, their bodies so nimble, it just sent shivers down my spine, I can still feel the goosebumps just thinking about it! The whole show was exhilarating - the vibrant energy, the glitzy costumes, the jazzy tunes... and it felt SO close. As if I could just join in! I swear, those girls in the front row almost reached out to me, to share their dancing! Oh my goodness!

Monday – Metropolitan Muse of Arts

It’s my favourite day of the week already! Oh, darling, you have to experience the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. They've just had an exhibition - *A Celebration of Couture: Fashion in the Met - New York - It's really fantastic. I've already been three times, with all my Pink Tutu blogging pals – such amazing work, a real journey for the eyes, through the decades! I can already imagine what a treat this must be for an avid designer. We all stood mesmerized. And the art, oh darling, there was a collection of Impressionists and even a painting that's about ballet - just wonderful! You have to see the exhibit. But really, New York is amazing and you will have the BEST time! And of course, we can’t forget the tutu…

The Met's iconic stairs! That's my spot - you know that scene in the movies - you know exactly the place, a classic. Just that feeling of being part of the glamour, a place for movie stars, where fashion is on everyone's mind. Where else in the world could I spin and twirl on these stunning marble steps without feeling out of place? I couldn't resist a few twirls on the steps - the sunshine filtering through the arches of the museum made my tutu shimmer like a magic spell. It felt like the perfect scene for my pink tutu and me. A beautiful day, in a beautiful place.

And now, the highlight of the day – the Met gala! Every year there is a magnificent ball – a huge social event with celebrities from all around the world and they make it into such a fabulous fashion affair. The theme is always stunning, like the Met's exhibits themselves – the dresses are like works of art. The event is so glamorous. If my life had a perfect fairy-tale ending, this would be it. But I am very happy in my pink tutu – it makes life much more fun than a simple, boring fairy-tale. And there’s not so much waiting!

So there you have it – a whirlwind tour of my New York escapades, pink tutu in tow. What do you think, darling? Would you want to twirl with me through the streets of New York City? Maybe one day. Maybe we'll meet on these steps!

Let's keep the Pink Tutu dream alive! Oh, don't forget, there's a brand new dance blog coming soon - see you on Monday!

Keep shining! Emma x
