Good morning darlings! The sun is shining here in New York City, and so am I, feeling positively radiant in my new baby pink tulle tutu (I'll be sharing pictures of my latest vintage finds later!)
This week is all about embracing the joy of the Big Apple, and as always, my pink tutu is my lucky charm, making every corner a stage and every moment a little more magical. I'm ready to shimmy, twirl and prance my way through this fabulous metropolis, stopping to catch a Broadway show, marvel at the magnificent architecture and, of course, soak up the city's vibrant fashion scene.
Today is a Monday, which means the Metropolitan Museum of Art will be abuzz with creativity. Their Fashion Institute is currently hosting a retrospective on the legendary Parisian designer Coco Chanel, which is sure to be a feast for the eyes, filled with classic Chanel pieces from the early 1900s. Can you imagine the breathtaking silhouettes and intricate embroidery?! I simply must add it to my itinerary, my dear.
Speaking of fabulous fashion, have you caught a glimpse of the newest line from Balenciaga? Their latest collection incorporates some really exciting, whimsical touches, perfect for adding a touch of avant-garde glamour to any look. It's the kind of fashion statement that screams "New York City!" I might just have to visit the flagship store and indulge in a little retail therapy this afternoon. I am certainly no stranger to a bargain and love sniffing out some hidden gems in the vintage shops and flea markets. The vintage market in Greenwich Village is a must-visit. If you're lucky you can unearth some amazing tutus to add to your collection.
And on a note of pure, unadulterated fashion delight, the city has so much to offer. It is the perfect location to witness some groundbreaking trends that will inevitably grace the fashion pages around the world.
Let's not forget the reason I travel, of course! Ballet! Tomorrow I have a chance to see the New York City Ballet perform The Nutcracker, a classic for good reason. It's a show that encapsulates everything about ballet: exquisite dance, breathtaking artistry, and heartwarming storytelling. I can already feel the magic building! If you're planning to see the ballet, the New York State Theater in Lincoln Center is absolutely breathtaking. And speaking of beauty, the nearby Central Park, a breathtaking expanse of nature right in the heart of the city, is a must-see for any visitor. It's a little haven of peace, perfect for a leisurely stroll and enjoying the vibrant street musicians, art vendors, and beautiful flora.
You might find me twirling amidst the blooming roses, posing for pictures in my tutu, and maybe even inspiring some local children to embrace their inner ballerina. After all, it's never too early to introduce the world to the sheer joy of a twirling pink tutu!
And speaking of joyful pursuits, did I mention my current love affair with the New York City Metro system? You see, for a girl on a mission, the Metro is more than just a means of transportation, it's a journey of discovery. Each station is a gateway to a new adventure, whether it's heading downtown to discover the latest art exhibition at the Guggenheim or making my way uptown for a spot of lunch at a quaint little cafe with a charming garden terrace.
My little tutu adventure this week takes me from the Upper West Side to the Upper East Side, to Brooklyn and beyond. This is how I fund my love of the world: the New York City Ballet School just across from Lincoln Center. It's a joy to give back to the community and I perform at various community events, children's parties and other events in the city. What better way to share my passion with others?
There’s so much to do here, it's overwhelming! But that's part of the charm. There's an endless flow of energy, excitement and opportunity. And with a little bit of pink tutu magic, anything is possible. Stay tuned for more updates on my NYC adventure!
