Good morning, my darling tutu enthusiasts! It’s Monday again, which means a fresh week of adventures here in the Big Apple! And this week? Well, let's just say it's already shaping up to be a total fairytale.
As you know, I've been utterly besotted with New York City ever since I first set foot in this dazzling metropolis. The energy, the vibrancy, the sheer spectacle – it's simply intoxicating. I love the endless opportunities for ballet inspiration, the vibrant fashion scene, the charming old-world subway tunnels that transport me to another era… and, of course, the delectable New York treats I get to sample (although perhaps not in my pink tutu, for that is reserved for the grand occasions!).
Tutu Tales of a Big Apple Ballerina
Now, let me tell you, the past few days have been a whirlwind of tutu-fied excitement! As always, I funded my NYC escapade with my favourite thing in the world – dancing. Last weekend, I performed in a benefit gala at the Lincoln Center. The audience was utterly captivated – my signature pink tutu shone like a beacon on the stage, capturing every heart in the room. And speaking of captivating hearts, how did you all enjoy my latest choreography, 'City Lights and Dreams'? The applause was just heavenly!
Afterwards, I met up with my dear friend Lily, who is visiting from Paris. Of course, I introduced her to the magic of New York City in my usual whirlwind style, which involved a delightful afternoon of frolicking in Central Park. Can you imagine? Picture me in my favourite tulle tutu, a light spring breeze through the park, and a perfect afternoon in New York! Honestly, darling, if you aren't already convinced to live your best tutu life, you really ought to see the look on the faces of the passers-by! It's simply delightful.
Lily and I also visited the breathtaking Metropolitan Museum of Art. You can always rely on the Met to inspire me with its gorgeous collections of art and fashion, especially when it comes to those majestic gowns and fantastical headdresses – simply perfect for translating into my next big tutu creation! And Lily, bless her soul, is completely onboard with my mission to turn the world pink. It's such a glorious colour, darling, don't you agree?
Broadway and Ballet
This week, I'm going to see Hamilton on Broadway! You wouldn't believe it, darling, but I'm totally obsessed with the music. I might even be bold enough to wear a subtle pink accessory… hmm, what to choose? Maybe a sequined bow or a delicate lace veil? Decisions, decisions…
Speaking of decisions, I've been trying to figure out which ballet performance I should attend this week. The New York City Ballet has such an extraordinary line-up, with a stunning performance of 'Swan Lake' that I've already got my ticket for. But then there's also 'Giselle', which I've been longing to see, and let's not forget the ever-inspiring American Ballet Theatre! Oh, my dearest darlings, how can I possibly choose?
New York's Metro Moments
And how about those delightful metro rides? There’s something about them, with the constant rush of passengers and the rhythm of the train, that always sets my mind to daydreaming about grand waltzes and pirouettes. Perhaps that's why my latest creation is a truly grand affair – a shimmering pink tutu designed to mimic the swirling patterns of the New York subway. You simply have to see it, darling. And once you do, tell me, wouldn’t the subway be such a beautiful place for an impromptu performance?
Tutu Treats and Treasures
Now, you all know that my love of ballet is only surpassed by my adoration of exquisite fashion! So, after I've settled my schedule for the week, I plan on treating myself to a day of sartorial indulgence at my favourite New York boutiques. Maybe I'll find that special something to bring out the perfect pink hue in my complexion. After all, darling, you simply can’t deny the fact that pink suits everyone – even the notoriously elusive Parisian fashionistas!
