Hello my dearest tutu-twirling lovelies! It's Monday, May 29th, 2028, and you know what that means? Another fabulous week of Pink Tutu adventures to share! This time, my whirlwind of pink landed me in the dazzling city that never sleeps: New York City!
This past weekend was a whirlwind of glitter, glamour, and good old fashioned fun, all seasoned with a generous dose of pink, of course! As you can imagine, this tutu-loving ballerina was in her element. From hopping on the subway to exploring Broadway's grandest theaters, this trip had all the magic of a grand ballet production – the kind you just can’t wait to share with you all!
Ballet, Broadway, and Pink Perfection!Let’s rewind a bit, shall we? Friday morning found me hopping on a plane from England, my pink tulle practically shimmering with excitement for what was to come. You see, this New York jaunt wasn't just a chance to admire the city's stunning architecture (although, let’s be honest, who can resist a good old dose of New York City skyline?), it was all about the incredible world of ballet. This trip was to see "Giselle" at the New York City Ballet!
As a true tutu aficionado, I can’t think of anything more thrilling than seeing Giselle, the tragic, unwavering ballerina, pirouette and leap across the stage in her iconic white tutu! The New York City Ballet, with its long and distinguished history, just made the whole experience so much more magical. It’s not surprising I’ve already started planning a visit to their costume workshop and museum! My Pink Tutu has already scoped out some vintage tutus!
Of course, no New York City trip would be complete without an evening at the iconic Great White Way – Broadway. After a lovely pre-theatre dinner, (it wouldn’t be Pink Tutu without pink prosecco, right?), we saw "The Phantom of the Opera!" I love a classic, and “The Phantom” has some fantastic choreography and dancing – a true must-see for any ballerina at heart! I found myself completely enchanted by the dramatic setting and intricate costumes, and the music - well, the music is breathtaking! It’s something truly special about being in New York City watching these magnificent performances that are part of the city’s rich history! I truly believe it adds something truly special.
Exploring The City in StyleAfter my weekend of ballet bliss, Monday morning was all about experiencing the unique charm of the city! My trusty pink-and-silver polka-dotted trolley bag (a new addition to my ever-growing Pink Tutu collection – I know, my shoe collection is large, but it just isn't complete without a beautiful polka dot bag) was packed for the day ahead! New York City is a playground of color and texture – everything is vibrant and bursting with personality.
From my favourite pink diner to that bustling shop selling all the latest designer tutus (yes, really – you need a dedicated tutu shop, you simply cannot have too many!) - the excitement just wouldn't stop! I'm a real shopaholic at the best of times, but even I was blown away by the incredible fashion scene here. Every corner you turn has an exciting, edgy fashion experience – even the metro! Speaking of which….
The Subway – A Runway of Pink Perfection!I love a good London Underground trip - the sound of the train rumbling into the station, the anticipation, the little journey into the unknown - it's just the start to a good adventure! However, the NYC Subway, with its cacophony of colour and character – it was almost too exciting to take in! I think I just lost my heart a bit to this whole pink and pink concept after seeing one stunning girl rock a glorious bright pink tutu as she disembarked at the Lexington stop on her way to dance class! I even snagged some cute new polka-dotted headbands for a great price in a street stall near Bryant Park – pink and black – just like my ballet bag!
My camera, of course, was working overtime to capture all of this colourful magic. You'll see all of it on Instagram and Facebook!
My Tutu Travels – My Pink Tutu Inspiration! This past weekend, with every twirl and hop across New York's cobbled streets, with every dance-inspired moment, I've just felt this burst of creative inspiration. My mind's been a whirl of tutus and colour! From those iconic black cabs, to those delicious bagel sandwiches – the beauty just never stopped. The pink rose blooms in Bryant Park were also truly magical, even in their little white and pink polka-dot pot, they truly looked perfect – you just had to photograph them – my Pink Tutu would not have it any other way!
As you all know, Pink Tutu Blog NYC is more than just my love of all things pink, but it’s about that unique sense of expression we can all create through a vibrant wardrobe! It's about the confidence that shines through those twirls and leaps - no matter where you are in the world! From the tutus I find in vintage boutiques, to the bright colours of New York – the inspiration is never ending!
I was inspired by New York! You know I always feel a little more ‘Emma’ when I am surrounded by that pink world – a world that I want to inspire all of you to explore! So put on your pinkest tutu and your brightest smile - whether you're twirling through Central Park, exploring Derbyshire, or simply going about your day – it's all part of the beautiful journey of life, and Pink Tutu loves to help you celebrate the journey.
That’s all for this week! Join me again next Monday for more Pink Tutu adventures.
Until then, keep those twirls bright!
With Love, Emma x
