Hello, darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad traveller, Emma, back with another blog post from the magical city of New York! Can you believe it's already the 8th of January? Time really does fly when you're swirling around in pink tutus!
As always, my trusty pink tutu accompanied me on all my adventures this week. It even braved the chilly New York air as I stepped off the subway (ah, the joys of travelling by metro!), eager to share the wonders of the city with you all.
And what wonders they were! This week has been overflowing with incredible ballet performances, divine fashion finds, and enough sunshine to make my heart sing!
A New York Ballet Ballet - Just Like In the Movies
First things first, let's talk ballet! I can't resist a good ballet performance, and this week's outing was truly magical. I managed to secure tickets to the New York Ballet, and the show was simply breathtaking. I swear, there were actual tears in my eyes by the end. It was just like a movie scene - the elegance, the emotion, the pure joy of movement. They even had a scene with an enormous pink tutu (clearly the universe was on my side!), and it truly made my day. I mean, how often do you see an entire ballet costume made from pink feathers? It was a true masterpiece.
Afterward, I caught a cab to my favourite Parisian cafe in Greenwich Village. They have the most incredible croissant in all of Manhattan! I treated myself to a decadent macaroon too - it was a sugar rush dream come true! And what better way to complete this perfect ballet-filled day than to indulge in a little retail therapy?
Pink Paradise Found in Fifth Avenue!
I knew just the place to go for some exquisite and outrageously glamorous shopping – Fifth Avenue! Can I just say that I had the absolute best time? I discovered the most beautiful pink tulle fabric – and you better believe I purchased every last yard of it. I can’t wait to craft some dazzling creations, both for myself and to grace future pink tutu dancers across the globe.
And then, I fell in love. Okay, not with a person, but with the most exquisite silk pink dressing gown I have ever seen. I swear, it practically called to me! My credit card felt a bit sad (it’s such a generous friend), but my heart was overjoyed.
An Evening Under The Big Top!
This weekend, I finally managed to catch a show that I’ve been wanting to see for ages – “Circus Maximus”. Imagine my delight when they announced they would be doing a show in the heart of Times Square! There were fire-breathers, acrobats, and, most importantly for this tutu-loving lady, a majestic troupe of ballerina-like dancers dressed in glittery leotards, tights, and even the most exquisite sparkly tutu I've seen in ages! (Seriously, the sparkle factor was phenomenal, I might have shed a tear at the beauty of it all!). My heart went "boom, boom, boom" at every trick they pulled off. I might have even given the clown a standing ovation.
But, all those incredible things weren't enough for my pink tutu-loving self. This weekend also brought something extra special to New York: the "Tutu for Tutus" fundraising event! Now, as you all know, I'm a bit of a pink tutu fanatic. I truly believe everyone should embrace their inner dancer, no matter where they are in the world!
Tutu For Tutus - It's All About The Dance!
This particular fundraising event took place at the iconic Lincoln Center and I knew I had to be there. They organised a wonderful "Tutu-Off," which encouraged all kinds of dance styles - ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, even flamenco. And guess who judged the final performance? You guessed it, this pink tutu enthusiast! I am proud to say that all funds raised went to the amazing "Dancing For All" organisation, who strive to ensure every young dancer has the opportunity to pursue their dream of dancing, no matter their background or circumstances. The event was packed with dancers and tutu lovers, it was so vibrant and the atmosphere was just so positive, and it gave me a real sense of how big a difference our community is making.
Of course, there was also a Tutu Marketplace - and let's just say that my wallet and I had a little squabble (I think it's a sign of a great weekend when you need to check into your suitcase and suddenly realise you haven’t brought enough space to accommodate the new items!), but I came away with some beautiful pink tutu inspired designs – and even picked up a few tutu-related trinkets as a thank you for judging. If you’re in New York anytime soon, be sure to look them up!
This is all from me, darlings! As always, stay safe, dance your heart out, and spread the pink tutu love!
Until next Monday,
Emma xoxo
