#PinkTutuBlogParis - Post 47: Parisian Whirlwind!
Bonjour mes chéri(e)s!
It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, back from another whirlwind trip - this time, Paris! I just knew I had to share this Parisian adventure with you lovely lot, so grab a cuppa, settle in, and prepare for a fashion-filled, tutu-tastic journey!
Now, you know how I absolutely adore travelling by train. It's such a romantic way to journey, especially when it's a comfy EuroStar. My latest ballet performance in Derbyshire, England (a little piece of Swan Lake - the audience went wild!) funded this fab trip, so naturally, I couldn't wait to escape to the City of Lights!
Landing in Paris, my heart was aflutter with excitement. Oh, Paris! You are just SO charming! And the weather, crisp, cool and sunshine – simply divine!
Day One: Pink Parisian Delights! The first day was a whirl of pink perfection. We (yes, my wonderful friend Rosie is joining me on this adventure – she loves pink as much as I do!), checked into our boutique hotel - a gorgeous little place with fluffy white bedding and a balcony that had a view of the Eiffel Tower. (Of course, it wasn’t too fluffy, my tutu skirt is, after all, the epitome of elegance!)
Right, so before the Eiffel Tower selfie overload (I couldn’t resist snapping a few! But with such a magnificent view, it felt rather unfair NOT to!), we went for a fabulous wander. My eyes were glued to every single shop window - how utterly divine the fashion! Rosie found a dreamy vintage dress shop - I was in heaven, my dear, in heaven! I purchased a beautiful silk blouse and a shimmering sequin top - absolutely perfect for my upcoming performance. You know me, I always love to look my absolute best, especially when I'm dazzling audiences with my pirouettes!
Our dinner was magnifique at a quaint Parisian bistro with twinkling fairy lights, surrounded by locals (it really felt like stepping into a Parisian movie!), enjoying delicious French cuisine - steak frites for Rosie, duck breast with a divine red wine sauce for me. Delicious, a real treat for the soul!
Later, Rosie, who loves exploring with a map as much as I do, guided me to the Notre Dame. It felt as grand as ever - it was simply magnificent, and definitely gave me a few inspirational ideas for future performances! Who knows, perhaps one day I'll be waltzing across the cobblestone floor of the Notre Dame – a pink tutu and sparkling tiara - I can just see it! (But maybe not tonight, we were definitely feeling exhausted!)
Day Two: Fashion & Flirting! My darlings, the streets of Paris are simply an outdoor fashion show. The shops! The cafes! The Parisians - so chic! The entire city is overflowing with colour, design, and artistry. It is honestly such an inspiration, you really can feel the creative energy vibrating in the air. I simply adore Paris for its elegance, style and je ne sais quoi. It's all very well-behaved, in a beautiful and stylish way.
And the food...oh, my word, the food! Freshly baked pastries, artisan cheeses, delicious salads, crepes! Even the bread here is amazing. Oh, and don't even get me started on the Macarons - pure perfection. We spent our entire afternoon hopping between boutiques (Chanel - naturally!, Yves Saint Laurent, a quirky little vintage store… heaven!), stopping to take snaps of each other trying on stylish outfits and pretending we were Parisian models. My darlings, the French women have such amazing style – effortlessly elegant, a little touch of whimsy - it’s such an inspiration.
We indulged in a Parisian tradition in the late afternoon - coffee, pastry, and endless laughter in a charming cafe near the Tuileries Gardens. As the day started to fade, we wandered around these magical gardens and stumbled upon the Louvre – and wouldn’t you know it – the pyramid was completely illuminated! Absolutely spectacular and just the most perfect end to the day!
Day Three: Tutus and TraditionOur Parisian adventure continued on with a trip to the Moulin Rouge. I have to confess I've always been mesmerised by the sheer artistry of the Moulin Rouge, it’s like stepping into a vintage movie with the glitter, the costumes, the music. Honestly, it truly felt magical and the Moulin Rouge’s spirit of celebration and glamour truly matches the excitement that always follows my performances. It was fabulous to experience such a legendary Parisian institution.
Of course, no visit to Paris is complete without a stop at the world-famous Opéra Garnier - the ultimate symbol of Parisian elegance! This glorious palace of art, full of glittering chandeliers, velvet curtains and a grandeur that took my breath away, truly had my inner ballerina leaping! Just standing under those towering arches felt so incredibly special, and I even spotted some dancers practicing their choreography. You know me – my fingers itched to join in. Perhaps we'll find ourselves in Paris again – who knows!
Now, my dears, I do hope I've brought a touch of pink Parisian magic to your weekend! It's been a glorious, inspiring, and delightful few days in the City of Lights! Paris, you stole my heart! And if you haven’t already, I implore you all to put on a pink tutu - maybe even grab a Beret (like Rosie!) - and strut your stuff!
Until next week, au revoir, and don't forget to check out the latest post on my website www.pink-tutu.com! It’s packed with pink delights and tutu-licious tales, ready to give you a little dose of joy and inspiration!
xx Emma
P.S.You all must see the Musée d'Orsay! Its collection of impressionist paintings will leave you speechless! But please, try to hold back the tears as you wander past Manet, Monet, and Renoir - my dears, art can truly move us!
