Pink Tutu Blog: Paris, Week 136 - 3rd August 2002 - The City of Lights (and Pink Tutus!)

Bonjour, darling readers! It's Emma, your favourite tutu-clad traveller, and guess what? I'm in Paris! 🗼✨ That's right, I swapped my Derbyshire dales for the chic streets of the City of Lights, all thanks to a few beautiful ballet performances and a speedy EuroStar ride (and maybe a dash of tutu magic, if I'm honest!).

Paris, oh Paris! How I've dreamed of this moment. From the second I glimpsed the Eiffel Tower peeking over the train tracks, my heart skipped a beat. It’s all so utterly romantic and captivating! I can practically hear the whisper of Edith Piaf’s songs drifting down the cobbled streets… even the pigeons look like they’re dressed for a fashion show!

Now, let me spill the beans about my first day in this magical city. After a delicious croissant at a charming patisserie (yes, they even had a pink macaron for me! ), I donned my most fabulous pink tutu (of course!), and set off for a walk down the Champs-Élysées. Can you believe it? I even managed to get a passerby to take a photo of me twirling beneath the Eiffel Tower, so of course I had to share it on Instagram!

I'm not sure if it was the Parisian air or the exquisite views, but the shops along the Champs-Élysées felt positively magnetic! My pockets might have screamed a bit, but oh, the joys of retail therapy in a city known for its fashion! 👗 I came home with a couple of irresistible treasures: a blush pink beret to protect me from the (slightly too) warm Parisian sun and a delicate lace scarf, perfect for throwing on over my outfit for a touch of Parisian flair. I know, I know, I must be a shopaholic!

But hey, every trip needs a little retail therapy, and after all, a well-dressed tutu requires an equally fabulous wardrobe! Besides, it's important to support the local businesses, especially when their windows are full of the most delicious fashion treats!

Speaking of treats, we had to find some quintessential French food, so we indulged in a wonderful dinner at a small bistro off a little side street. It was a traditional French experience, complete with cobblestone ambiance, candlelight, and the sound of French conversations swirling around me. The steak was absolutely divine!

My evening wasn't over yet, though! Parisian nights are buzzing with entertainment, so I headed over to the Opéra Garnier. Can you imagine? An evening of ballet! It’s a truly incredible building! And the ballet itself? Oh, my dear, it was magical! I even managed to grab a seat near the stage – the magic felt tangible. Watching these graceful dancers twirl with such artistry and elegance - well, it's enough to make you believe in fairy tales! It truly was a dream come true.

However, the day didn't end there! Afterwards, we decided to see a spectacular street performance. It was one of the most fascinating things I’ve ever seen. I was enthralled. I could hardly believe what I was seeing, especially considering the skill of the street performers! I even learnt some impressive new moves (shhhh… maybe I’ll share them in a future video!), and managed to find a perfect pink feather boa in one of the many shops that surround the theatre district. It felt just right to slip on the boa and watch the dancers in my bright pink tutu. The city has this captivating atmosphere, and even the street lights are adorned with delicate pink bulbs. How lovely!

As I write this blog post in my hotel room, nestled in the heart of Paris, I'm overwhelmed by a sense of gratitude and joy. Every day feels like a fairytale adventure, filled with laughter, love, and pink tutus!

I can’t wait to share my adventures with you next Saturday.

Until then, keep dreaming in pink and never forget - you are a star, and you deserve to shine.

A bientot,

Emma 💕🩰
