Pink Tutu Paris – Post #143: Bonjour from the City of Lights!

Saturday 2002-09-21

Well hello there, darlings! Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind EuroStar trip to Paris and already buzzing with excitement for all the fabulous adventures that lie ahead. It's Saturday, and you know what that means… a brand new Paris blog post just for you!

As I always say, life is a stage, and Paris is the grandest, most glamorous stage of them all! I'm wearing my newest tutu – a darling pale pink with a flurry of silver sequins. It practically twirls itself, you know! Just thinking about those graceful pirouettes makes me smile, so let’s dive right into the fun.

This weekend, Paris is alive with vibrant energy. The air is a symphony of music, chatter, and laughter, and it’s all set to the most delicious backdrop: a kaleidoscope of cafes, charming shops, and cobbled streets bathed in the golden glow of a Parisian sunset.

Speaking of cobbled streets… you can’t talk about Paris without mentioning those gorgeous old taxis. There’s nothing quite like hopping into a traditional black and cream taxi, feeling that nostalgic scent of worn leather and the familiar clatter as you’re whisked off to your next destination. I even got the most wonderful photo of me doing a quick ballet pose at the zebra crossing just as the cabbie was about to pull away! I'll share that on the website soon. 😉

Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the glorious ballet at the Opera House. It was an absolutely divine production of Giselle! I nearly fainted when the entire corps de ballet did that stunning sequence in the final act. Their movements were just… magical! Seeing so many ballerinas on stage in such intricate tutus truly ignited that inner twirling fire! And the music? It filled the room like liquid gold, sending shivers down my spine.

As usual, shopping was high on my to-do list, and I’m thrilled to tell you, darlings, my latest Paris fashion haul is fabulous! I scored the most darling pink cashmere cardigan, which I plan to wear with a stunning floral-print skirt for the ballet tomorrow. And who can resist a little something for my growing tutu collection? I’m so excited to have found the most divine white tutu with a cloud of pink feathers around the hem, and there’s even a sprinkle of silver sparkles for an extra bit of Parisian sparkle! I might even wear that to the Palais Garnier – it’ll be my little tribute to the ballet goddesses!

Oh! And speaking of sparkles! Did you know it’s just around the corner to the Festival of Lights! Imagine an entire city lit up with sparkling colours! I’m planning to catch some of the evening performances - they’ll make such amazing photos! Just the thought of all those stunning colourful lights illuminating the Eiffel Tower… sigh!

And, before you ask, darling, I simply couldn’t come to Paris without bringing along my little Parisian treasure, my own special vintage suitcase that my granny bought on her honeymoon to Paris in the 50s. She said it was a piece of Parisian history, and that’s exactly what I love about Paris – its history seeps through every corner! From the classic cafes and quaint shops to the iconic buildings and charming cobblestones, this city has it all!

Just like the Parisian rooftops, I can’t wait for you all to follow me as I continue my little tour de Paris, my sweet darlings.

Stay tuned for my next update, full of fabulous adventures!

Bisous from a blushing Emma,
