Pink Tutu Blog: Paris - Post #193 (Saturday 6th September 2003)

Bonjour mes chéris!

It’s me, your favourite pink tutu-wearing travel enthusiast, Emma, bringing you a whirlwind of Parisian delights from the City of Lights. Today, I'm sharing a delightful adventure as I finally conquer my dream of taking a Parisian train journey – the iconic EuroStar!

Yes, my lovelies, this Derbyshire girl boarded a shiny, silver bullet and whisked herself off to Paris. Just picture me, swirling in my petal pink tutu, a perfectly pink suitcase in tow (a vintage beauty, I might add, that I spotted on a delightful antiquing trip in my favourite Derbyshire village).

The Journey:

Oh, the thrill of being onboard the EuroStar! It was like a little slice of heaven gliding through the countryside. The carriages were so spacious and elegant, and the windows offered the most gorgeous view. It felt like a film set – everything about it screamed glamorous!

I just sat back, watched the world drift by, and let my mind wander through dreams of ballets in the Palais Garnier. (Anyone else ever fantasize about performing Swan Lake on the grand stage in front of the shimmering chandeliers? I certainly do!)

Of course, no trip on the EuroStar is complete without indulging in some delicious treats. The onboard service was superb. I couldn't resist a delicious cup of tea with a flaky croissant – pure bliss. And for those who are wondering, my beloved pink tutu had a special spot in the luggage rack, safe and sound, of course. It was a whirlwind trip but so worth it for a little taste of Parisian elegance!

Paris!

Speaking of elegance, my darlings, Paris! Oh, how it lives up to its reputation! Arriving at the Gare du Nord was like stepping into a grand, fairytale world. The energy in the air was buzzing, and everyone around me seemed so chic and effortlessly stylish. It's definitely a city that inspires.

Of course, my first stop had to be a delightful visit to one of Paris' most famous department stores - Le Bon Marché! My purse (a bright pink satin number, naturally) was begging to be emptied and trust me, it had its wish fulfilled. I simply couldn't resist the endless display of stunning, sophisticated, and outrageously fun clothes and accessories. My imagination went wild! And speaking of fun, I discovered a fabulous new boutique just a short walk away, overflowing with exquisite handmade tutus. Talk about my Parisian dream come true!

A Saturday in Paris

My day in Paris has been pure enchantment! My dear friends, today’s Paris is full of magic. This beautiful city embraces all its beauty, offering stunning architecture, gorgeous blooms, and breathtaking artistry in every corner. It feels as if each little café, bookstore, or art gallery has a special secret hidden within.

We have it all - sunshine dappling on ancient stones, artists setting up their easels in charming little squares, and the sound of laughter drifting through the air. A wonderful sense of magic seems to hover over Paris!

Tonight, my lovelies, I am treating myself to a night of theatre! You know how much I love ballet, so I'm going to see “Giselle” - one of my absolute favourites! I’ve been so excited about it, even squeezing in a little extra ballet class back home in Derbyshire just to prepare. I can't wait to soak in the graceful movements, the intricate choreography, and the magnificent costumes. This is the stuff dreams are made of, isn’t it?

And of course, no Parisian outing would be complete without a little indulgence, so afterwards I’ll be heading to one of my favourite Parisian cafes to enjoy some creamy coffee and indulge in a piece of the most delicious pastry!

This evening, I’ll reflect upon all the beautiful and charming things I’ve experienced during the day, including a gorgeous visit to a local bakery where I indulged in a decadent croissant and a steaming cup of hot chocolate (always a good idea!) - it was almost like walking into a painting, the perfect French scene!

And just as Paris was settling down for the night, I found myself gazing up at the glittering night sky from the Eiffel Tower. A pink glow, illuminating the tower from its lights, seemed to whisper a welcome, whispering to my little pink heart to return again.

*Keep following my Paris adventures right here, dear readers! I have so much more to tell you. Paris, I love you! Bisous, Emma. *
