Pink Tutu Blog Paris - #274 - Bonjour from the City of Lights!

Saturday, 26th March 2005

Hello lovelies!

It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger, writing to you from the most magical city in the world – Paris! I've been absolutely dreaming of this trip ever since I got the gig at the Palais Garnier in December. Performing Giselle was a total dream, but I have to admit, my pockets are a little lighter now - let’s just say, those tickets weren't cheap!

But, fear not, because a ballerina’s spirit never truly breaks, especially when there’s a train to catch.

Whizzing through the Channel on a pink dream!

Remember that dreamy pink tutu I was telling you about for the Giselle performance? The one I wore to the premiere in Derbyshire and got all those lovely ladies in the front row chattering? Well, I thought it would be a fabulously frivolous idea to take it on the Eurostar with me for my trip to Paris! (Yes, I did cause quite a stir, you wouldn’t believe the stares I got – in a good way, of course). It really brightened up the whole journey!

It was such a joy hurtling through the Channel tunnel in that beautiful pink tulle – a perfect way to arrive in a city famous for its style. You can bet your bottom dollar I took plenty of photos for Instagram, as the sun was setting and we glided into Gare du Nord, it really felt like I was a character stepping straight out of a fairytale!

Discovering the magical boulevards!

We arrived in Paris, oh darling, and I was just besotted! As soon as I stepped off the train I felt like I'd walked onto a film set! All the glamorous Parisian women, with their impeccable outfits and chic little dogs, all looked like they’d just wandered out of a fashion magazine! Honestly, they all had such style – all that flowing black silk and scarlet lipsticks! It made me wish I’d brought my entire wardrobe with me.

But fear not, lovelies, I’m on the hunt for some Parisian finery, starting tomorrow morning! The plan is to spend today exploring the boulevards – with a little bit of detouring to shop along the way, of course. What’s a trip to Paris without some fabulous Parisian couture, am I right?

Speaking of fabulous couture… did I tell you that there's this gorgeous little boutique on the Rue Saint-Honoré? They have these incredible tutus! Seriously, if they could design and fit a whole entire range, I’d get everyone to wear them. Imagine – the streets of London (and the world!) filled with pink tutus! The possibilities are simply limitless!

But first, we’ve got to do some sightseeing. Paris is full of amazing history, so we’re heading to the Arc de Triomphe this afternoon, and tomorrow, we'll be exploring the Musée d’Orsay and the Louvre. There’s no shortage of culture to soak up here in Paris, and I’m absolutely bursting with excitement for it all.

I'll be back later today to tell you all about the glorious sights of the Eiffel Tower at night. Honestly, my dear blog readers, it’s enough to make you believe in magic. But for now, I’m going to indulge in a macaron or two while I sit on a café terrace and watch the world go by. Au revoir!

Emma’s Tip of the Day: Always pack a pink tutu – it will brighten up any occasion!
