Pink Tutu Paris: Post 450 - Bonjour from the City of Lights!
Oh, darling, Paris! It's finally here. After months of dreaming and saving every penny I made from my performances, the day has arrived - I'm in Paris, darlings! This magnificent city, with its cobbled streets, elegant buildings and irresistible charm, has completely stolen my heart. Itās so good to be back in this incredible city for the first time in three years, especially because I am here this time for the very special, very wonderful reasonā¦ Iām here to watch Sylvie Guillem!
I travelled from Derby by the lovely Eurostar, as always, itās such a smooth and efficient way to get here. For this trip, I chose a travel outfit that could take me seamlessly from the station to the streets of Paris, to a cafe and of course to the ballet - because it is never a good idea to compromise your style!
My pick? A flowing blush-pink maxi-skirt (perfectly in keeping with my Pink Tutu aesthetic, obviously!) teamed with a little white lace top, perfect for catching those Parisian breezes. Of course, the finishing touch? My ballet flats, embellished with delicate pink bows!
You know, itās no secret, Paris just makes you want to put on your very best! As I made my way from the Gare du Nord, past the famous Louvre Museum (one of my āmust seeā stops this time) to the elegant Rue de Rivoli, the energy of the city started to build!
From the Parisian gentlemen in their impeccably tailored suits to the fashionable women in their incredible heels, and chic Parisian cafeĢs full of laughing tourists and locals, the streets of Paris feel electric.
The French are definitely trend-setters, especially when it comes to clothes. My own style tends towards the glamorous side, but theyāve taken chic to a whole new level here! I couldnāt resist slipping into the elegant Chanel Boutique in Place VendĆ“me just to take a peek, but unfortunately, the prices were just beyond my budgetā¦ Iām hoping to do a little bargain hunting in some of the less famous stores before I leave.
It's Saturday morning and already, Iāve started to explore a little. The bouquinistes along the Seine, overflowing with old books, are a beautiful sight to see. They were a sight I last saw in 2005 and my old French notebook tells me I came away with an antique version of āLe Petit Prince.ā Itās a reminder that while this city is steeped in history, it still feels new and exciting each time.
For a Parisian lunch, I opted for a small cafe on the Rue de Saint-Germain, ordering a classic croque monsieur (melted cheese, ham, and a beautiful crunchy baguette) ā perfection! After, I found a gorgeous Parisian patisserie ā how I have missed them! The smells of sweet pastries, decadent chocolates and vanilla meringue are such a beautiful part of Paris. And of course, I had to try the traditional French macarons - a sweet treat I never miss when Iām in France!
Tomorrow morning, itās a 9:00 am ballet class at the prestigious Opera Garnier! Afterward, it's an evening to see Sylvie Guillemās performance. A must-do event during my stay here!
It was my love for ballet, you know, that first brought me to Paris so many years ago. But I knew instantly that there was more to it than the ballet! There is just something truly magical about Paris, darling. Its beauty, the passion for life and artā¦
After lunch, I found a shop selling the most beautiful pink ballet shoes! Iāll have to add another pink item to my ever-growing collectionā¦
Oh, my, I almost forgot, my most important Parisian tradition, to stop and enjoy the incredible Pink Lemonade at the cafe close to the Hotel de Ville, every day! Itās my secret pink Paris treat and something I always do when Iām here.
One thing that makes my Parisian trip special is the possibility of spreading my pink tutu love! Iāve got some ideas to help inspire everyone in the City of Lights! So stay tuned for exciting updates - including my quest to make Paris even pinker!
I canāt wait to explore more, share more with you and keep my Paris adventures going!
Keep an eye out next week on my Pink Tutu Paris blog to see where my travels take me and which pink Parisian places I discovered!
Lots of Love,
Emma xo
